Yeah, what happened to his spider-sense? I don't remember it being used at all in the movie.

Well Venom doesn't trigger his spider-sense, so that would explain a lot of it.

But Venom appears in the last 15 minutes... it would explain it in those 15 minutes.

D!

it was used when Harry threw the pumpkin bomb at Peter, when he slung it back at him.....and he fought venom for like 2mins so that didnt have nothin to with it lol.........it seemed like it just assumed we know he can sense stuff and he just did it, plus all the money put in sandman and venom's look took all the cash from CGI for 'spidey sense'...

I thought I heard the effect being used when he saved Gwen; right before the camera angles and he dives through the crane's holes it makes this sound as things slightly slow down.

what about when harry snatches him off his bike at the beginning?

yeah, but i guess you're right, it seems he reacted to stuff with his spider-sense throughout the movie.

The funny thing about that is he can sense when Norman was coming on his glider from a long distance in Spider-Man 1. Yet in #3 he doesn't know Harry's coming untill he is no more than ten feet away.

maybe raimi intended to screw the producers by doing a ****ty film with things lacking here and there! LOL..

Yes, so the spider sense was Sam Raimi's ultimate showcasing of flippin' the bird to Sony?

long shot explaination... Harry has been Pete's friend for so long, that maybe Harry coming to "hug" his buddy wouldn't register, but only Harry tossing a boom-bomb at Pete does???? idk... trying to throw Raimi a bone here.... :ninja:

Aside from Harry's initial ambush of Peter, no one else in the movie got the drop on Spidey, aside from Venom, who pretty much exclusively fought through guerrilla tactics and ambushes.

Does Venom has a spider-sense now? If so, then why didn't he notice the the debris of cement that MJ throwed at his head when he was about to attack Peter?

Maybe he barley registered it as a threat? It hit him square in the head and he made a little movement and then shrieked.
*clonk*
Skreeeeeyaaaaa!!!!
*translation* Now I'm gonna- *clonk* oh right she's still there. Don't interrupt me!"

People, they can't use the Spider sense everytime. Sometimes they need Peter to be taken off guard for story purposes. Get over it.

what story purpose did the neglected spider sense serve?

Well, Spider-sense didn't work at the building on fire in Spiderman 1.

DAIS

what i meant was that. the spider-sense was just one factor. overall he messed up quite a number of things. agree?

agree. a lot of things are missed such as harry at the start, however if you look things like going through the crane would have triggered his spider-sense, however Raimi probarbly thoght it would look better in fast motion. but i agree there was a lack of it although yes it was there sometimes. his spidersense would have triggered the fact that the sandman is dangerous in the truck though.

It's not so much neglecting as it is playing Spider-sense down enough to keep the hero from being omnipotent, in a sense. If your hero can dodge everything because he can see things in advance, what fun is that?

Here are my thoughts:
1) Venom doesn't trip spider-sense, although not explained in the movie.
2) Spider-sense is used whenever Peter dodges punches or in the more obvious instances.
3) Peter doesn't listen to his spider-sense on his bike until the last minute (you can see his facial expression change when Harry's fairly close) because his mind is occupied by MJ and the future proposal.
4) There's no evidence of spider-sense in the armored car because he's being cocky and relying on his own public image. He's becoming so arrogant that he doesn't listen to his instincts.
5) Back to Spidey 1. In the fire, Peter's focused on trying to save someone's life so he doesn't realize it's the Goblin at first. You can interpret him dodging the specialized pumpkin bombs (let's call them cutters) as using his spider-sense.

Just my 2 cents.

ummm.... hello... read the comics.... Spider-sense is a very arbitrary thing - like wolverine's healing factor... it's ability suits the story, and that is all. There are HUNDREDS of times baddies besides Venom get the drop on Spidey during fights, be it being too fast for him, him ignoring his Spider-sense, or just for the sake of making sure Spider-man doesn't suffer from "1950's Invincible-Superman-itis".

Besides, the spider-sense itself is never concretely explained... sometimes it's just a buzz indicating trouble, othertimes it seems Spidey knows exactly who, what, when, and where the attack/trouble is coming from. So I don't see it as a weakness on Sam Raimi's part, if he is doing the very same thing that Stan Lee, David Micheline, Bendis, and others have all been guilty of doing for the sake of action and drama.

Or the director just forgot about it.

Venom doesn't have a Spider-sense, but the symbiote does have the ability to sense its surroundings, as well as the emotional state of those around it, and since it is engulfing Brock, it gives him 360 degrees of "Spider sense"-like protection, tho Brock is more of a bulldozer and is willing to take a hit if it allows him to get closer to his target. The empathic ability is why Venom can look at someone and know if they are telling him the truth or not...
