If you had to choose one to be in the movie, which one would it be?

Tracers. :spidey:

And where's the poll? I want a poll.

I'd chose the signal...but it wasn't in the old movies, why would it be in this one?

It would be awesome though. I thought of the Amazing Spiderman Ride in IOA as soon as I saw this topic.

EDIT: Double post by accident...way to give a 1st impression. Sorry.

I always thought the signal was really corny, but the tracers could be awesome. It'd be nice to see Spidey actually investigating stuff and tailing people. You know, using his brain.

I agree, no Signal, too BATMANish.

The Tracer would be cool.

the spider signal would be an awesome image.

crooks robbing a store at the dead of night, massive spider signal shines on them and then spidey takes them down.

but then

electro shocks the heck out of spidey (by dropping his trousers :woot: I mean with bolt of electricity) as spidey is down (but not out) he flicks a spidey tracer on him, 'see you later 'electro'

The Spider-tracers are actually a bit of a liability. a couple of times in the books the villans have spotted this spider-shaped tracer attached to themselves and then set up a trap for Spidey with them.
Ok, they are that way to be a cool cb visual, but they go against all the conventions for bugging, ie to make them as discreet and small as possible to escape notice.
I think I would Nolan-ise the tracers if they were in a movie, make them more realistic, just a little tiny round device that you can hardly see.
edit: although, to keep them looking cool, I would have them still be spider-shaped, but that they are so tiny that you can only make out their shape when Pete is working on them under the microscope. You can have camera zoom in effects to show a tiny little spider attaching itself. Just not a big obvious spider-tracer like the books.
Spider-signal? Maybe, it could look great onscreen, or perhaps not, look at how crappy bat-signals look compared to the comic-book drawings, they either look realistic and as a result almost unintelligible, or cartoony to the point of sticking out like a sore thumb in a bad way.
edit: the bat-signal in the Nolan movies look cool even though they are unintelligible, but a spider-signal has to be clear as crystal to work. they would CGI it and make it look unreal and cartoony I fear.

The tracers.

The spider-signal would look like a horrid Batman copy/nod (which I think it is). Like having Peter Parker doing the classic Superman shirt opening.

Tracers.... as well as the web shooters of course...

I would to see the spider tracer. Parker should utilize his talents as a scientist

Uhm, both? Tracers are a great way to show off his genius without getting into the whole web-shooters debacle (despite being almost as outlandish), and the Signal simply because I squeal out of childhood glee whenever I see it. It's not really Batman-ish considering it's used for a completely different purpose and we'd probably actually be able to see it. They'd never even have to call it the Spider-Signal. The belt I can understand there being Batman parallels, and if he didn't have web-shooters it'd be kinda pointless.

I always thought the Spider-Signal was pretty cheesy. I guess Tracers are okay though.

I voted neither only because I think it's probably in best interest not to have either. but I'm not 100 against spider tracers. It's possible they could work. I just doubt it.

One of the things htat would have to be addressed is how he knew to build them in the first place. He discovers that his spidey sense warns him of danger but how did he know it would respond to certain radio frequencies?

Perhaps maybe bring the spider tracers in part 2. He could be in the right place at the right time where he somehow discovers that his spider sense reacts to a certain frequency and that gives him the idea to build them.

In the comics Chameleon sent radio signals that only Spider-Man could pick up with his spider sense to send him a message though that begs the question of how Chameleon figured that out.

In 1999 John Byrne rebooted the old Spidey stories & in his version, Chameleon was working for Doom, who had also been able to contact him this way.

Tracers all the way, i've always loved them

Both could work.
But I'd prefer if he used a small handheld reciever with a screen to track the position of the tracers, like he had in the 90's series. He also had a red flash light on his belt, but it didn't project an image of any sort. That's less corny and batman-ish than the spider-signal. There are plenty instances where a flashlight can be handy. And a tracer is good for following a vehicle once you lose sight of it.

Agreed. I think the signal would be too cheesy in a movie but the tracers as you've suggested would emphasis Peter's skills as a scientist and his resourcefulness.
