Spiderman 3.1 Final Swing Edition- Fan edit

Could you upload a youtube clip of this scene the way it looks now? I'm curious as to how this looks.

Here you go!

That scene with the black suit Spidey...seems a little out of place. Did I miss something?

Here you go!

Very well done my friend. And the music fit very well. And you cut out the hairflip. Good job there. Though you could tone it down just a smidge when Jameson says, "Miss Brant that's not the position I hired you for."

Or maybe you're going for that lingering danger or edge Peter has in this whole scene. Is that why the music is present during that part? I always thought that was a humorous part when Jameson says that. Maybe you can tone it down during he says that and then go back to the music you had. But I do see what you mean about where that scene in SM1. Where Peter turns out the opposite of what Uncle Ben wanted him to be. Good job there.

Oh, and I can somewhat hear the original music in there too. You might want to fix that.

And another thing, isn't there another shot of Eddie walking out of Jameson's office?

You know what you should do? If there is a shot of that, you should slow that down some and fade to that shot of back flipping swinging black suited SM. It would work well. During that fade out of Eddie, cue that music.

It really would remind me of something Raimi would do. Kinda reminds me of that fade out shot of Peter in SM1 after he lets the robber go in the wrestling arena. It would mirror your initention alot better. Just a suggestion though.

I'm sorry but I don't think your transition works at all, it''s very awkward. And the fade into the scene with Peter and Betty doesn't work either. I like how you're trying to make it a more serious scene but it's going to need some reworking.

I think it begins with that shot of spider-man swinging, whenever he's swinging they play a swinging song, no matter how short it's always there. Because the Uncle Ben Revenge starts while spider-man is swinging and continues into the next scene which fades, it implies that it's together as one. I think you'd need Spidey music for that second of swinging and then a transition showing that he's at the daily bugle and THEN cut to Peter and Betty inside with that music. I would play some black spider-man music for when he is swinging (find a quick little riff of the main theme that'll take up the 3 or 4 seconds and play that). Then take a scene of the outside of the bugle from spider-man 2 with the Revenge song and splice it inbetween the two scenes, spider-man swinging and peter and Betty, and don't fade any of those shots together. Actually I'd just cut out that shot of spider-man swinging all together, I know that you want it back it and I do too but I just don't see where in the movie it'd fit well.

Just my 2 cents.

I see where you're coming from. But taking out that swing shot doesn't transition well at all to after Jameson fired Brock to Peter and Betty. You need something in there. It's kinda like a montage now. Plus, it goes by too quick to replace any music. I thought it was a great transition.

And it s showing Peter's edge and by using the music is mirrors SM1 of how Uncle Ben expected him to be. That music plays whenever he is doing the wrong thing but he doesn't know it. It's the same music after he let the robber go in the first film. It just brings us back to that and we think back to Uncle Ben's speech and Peter's past mistake and it is disturbing of how Peter goes back to that way after he would never do anything like that again.

The more I've looked at it, I agree, but I don't know what to do to fix it. I'm in the process right now of fixing the audio issues with the final version of the movie, when I get to this point in the film, I'll take a look at it. Right now, all I've gotten to is the Peter/Harry ally fight. (The good news is everything before that is 100% done now.) Its getting closer.

I also revisited the beginning of the film. I did not edit the opening montage, but I did restructure some scenes, and I elminated Peter/MJ backstage, that scene has ALWAYS bothered me. MJ seems like a completly different character than the one we last saw in SM2 in that part, so its gone. We still see how in love they are with the web in the park scene.

I also added a slow fade out of Flints family after he says his I'm not a bad person line. Trying to make it feel very Rami, more like his techniques in SM2. I think it works.

Very nice touch there Vash. Indeed, it is very Raimi. :word: When does that scene fade out into? Is it in the web scene?

Actually you're right about removing the Peter and MJ backstage scene. That scene did seem a little corny and it wasn't really needed. Plus, after we see Harry on the balcony we can get to that conversation right after.

And during that pan up shot of Harry on the balcony during the play. That music when the pan up is happening seemed to cheery. You should revisit the Goblin theme there. Just don't over do it. That theme and the look on Harry's face will make him seem more menacing like he's been watching Peter for a while or something.

Now that I read this again I think you're right about the swinging shot to fading to Betty and Peter. It doesn't fit well actually. It just makes it look amateur. I would take the advice of spiderfan and put an exterior shot of the Bugle. Or would that make sense? Because we just saw the Bugle. How about switching that scene with Jameson firing Brock then FADING to Marko emerging from the sewer pipe. But when you fade out on Brock cue the music in your video 0:09 - 0:12. It could forshadow the meeting of the two later. One starts his downfall and the other gets back. Then after the Marko sewer drainage pipe scene, cut back to the Bugle to Betty and Peter. Or would that make sense because of the time of day it switches to? If you're going to do that, during the scene in the Bugle with Peter and Jameson, tone down the music but keep it the same.

The kind fading used in most editing software doesn't really normally look that professional so I would advice against fading. Whenever Raimi fades in his movies he usually has some cool kind of fade, and he doesn't really do it that much at all if I remember correctly. I would advise against fading anything and try to concentrate more on cutting scenes to fit together. I think that just showing the bugle outside would work because cutting to the exterior conveys the passing of time.

And I don't think it should cut to Sandman and back to the Bugle because this version seems to be about retaining as much of the original Spider-Man 3 plot and order as it can. What would Raimi do?

And actually I know that you wanted it to mirror how far from Uncle Ben's morals that Peter has skewed but as far as the music goes I'd recommend the black suit spider-man song. There's one from the fan-made soundtrack that's like 35 seconds and softer.

Also it's hard to make this a serious scene because there are so many comedic elements to it. The entire Ms. Brant part is funny, as is Jonah's face at Peter when he puts his feet up on the desk. But it may work.

EDIT AGAIN: Actually I thought about it and...no music may be even better. Go back to SM1 and SM2 and try to see when and what scenes Elfman used music on, I think that'd help.

I don't think the transition works that well either. Like DJ said, it's a bit awkward.

I know a way it could work with the original music in, but I think I'd get trashed for my views on the original film in this thread, so I'll just leave that :woot:

I don't think Black Suit Seduction would work. We've already heard that track twice; once before he goes to Harry, again about four minutes later after he's beaten Harry, and then to hear it about three minutes after that would be too much, I think.

Yeah, you're right. I thought so too which is why I added on that it'd probably work even better if it didn't have music at all, which I think is the best choice now.

can't do that either, there will be some music bleed through from the original soundtrack no matter what I do. Have to have something to cover it up with. Wait.....just had an idea.

I hate to say this, I really do, but it looks like SM3.1 is cancelled for the time being.

Holy crap bro, can't believe it got shut down. I mean, I can believe it (I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did), but it's weird the MPAA would step after such a long time.

Oh, come on!!!

What the hell is it to them that people only do these things out of passion and love for their own vision, and not just making money like those greedy bastards?

wait, can't you just post it for us in other ways? like just give us the rapidshare links or something?

1) I'd be wary until everything with the MPAA situation has died down

2) Depends on fan interest. I have to admit, there doesn't seem to be too much of an outcry about this not coming out. With the amount of work I have invested into this, and the amount required to finish, I'd want to make sure the is an audience for this, not just 5-10 people.

If the interest is there, I might complete this. BUT..... it would take strong interest at this point, again by more than just a couple of people.

well I still very much want to see this. but I guess I can understand.

although I think that because of all the work you did do for this is a reason you should actually finish. cause then months of work would be for nothing.

Dude, screw them, complete your vision. As long as it's not about making money then it's fine. I really want to see it. And so do others who want a great SM3 experience.

Regardless of the audience, don't you just want to complete it for yourself? Wasn't that the point of the edit in the beginning - to make an edit you would enjoy, and an edit you wouldbe proud of? I wouldn't let the closing of FE stop me from completing my vision and enjoying it for myself. Hell, I'm sort of doing that already. I've been doing an on and off edit for SM3 since it came out, and never even set up a thread for it over at FE - I just wanna make sure I complete a film I'll enjoy and one that I can call my own, and then I'd share it with everyone else. But that's just my opinion. Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure you'll make the right decision.

Yeah, everyone pretty much wants you to complete this. I was thinking last night, you could make this into a really great film, dude. And greedy studios shouldn't stop you from creating your own vision.
