Spiderman 3.1 Final Swing Edition- Fan edit

He was happy with it?

Well...he's got money up his ass, so of course he's happy, even if the movie suck tremendously.

Money = check
Kids in my movie = check
Raimi is a happy camper and not caring if the movie made ANY sense = check

Haha, sad but true!:hehe:

Not to get anyones hopes up too much, but SM 3.1 has been dusted off and does have a faint heartbeat. Its probably going to be released with the audio issues and all, and if someone wants to go back and remaster it while I'm off with the Army Guard, they have my blessing. (with proper credits, of course)

I did work Peter asking Harry for help into Harry's death scene. Its brief, but at least it gives background into why Harry showed up to help Peter during the final fight, and I think it fits well at that point. I don't know if my execution was sound, but the premise is good.

I just ripped ALL the vocals from the Spider-Man Movie game for PC, so if you need any lines by Tobey Maguire to change or fill in I think I have somewhere around 500 tracks.

Well, I said I was dusting off the old film, and I have made good on my commitment. Here is Harrys Death and the new funeral sequence, as well as the end of the Peter/Marco conversation, I think it helps Peter's reaction at the end. (it will make more sense when you see both characters modified arcs in the final film)

There is still the possibility of me having to release this as a WIP, and let someone else finish, in case I don't get done before Basic. Working on it though

I would reccomend putting up more videos for us to see Vash. Hell, I would still love to see the whole film.

The project lives....

Someone has contacted me at fanedit to fine tune the audio while I am gone at basic, and I completed my end of the editing last night. I am going to post the entire list of changes later today in this thread (since folks over here have been out of the loop), as well as a new trailer that highlights whats gone and whats been changed.

I will give one BIG tidbit: There is a NEW opening to the film. (You'll see what it is in the trailer)

There are over 300 changes made to the film, as well as 20+ minutes cut. The films final run time is just under 2 hrs (1hr, 58 min)

More info later today.

Spider-Man 3.1 Trailer #3- What If??

Spider-Man 3.1 (Mostly) Complete List of Major Changes
There are some changes I know I've forgotten, but this should give you a very solid outline whats in, whats out, and how the film is structured now.

1) New music in opening titles (Spider-Man 2 rendition of the theme during the Spider-Man music parts:
i. Reason: Chris Young’s music sounded nice, but seemed too lifeless, especially during the opening themes.

2) Movie now opens with crane accident:
a. Peter’s “skippy” opening monologue has been cut
Reason: Introduces Gwen and Eddie right off the bat, makes them MUCH bigger players in the overall film (in the theatrical cut, they didn’t show up until 40min into the movie)

3) Removed the entire conversation between Capt. Stacy and Brock during crane accident

4) Removed crowd shot with overacting lady (she just THROWS herself in front of the camera loudly making worried noises)

5) Added Peter voice-over to exterior shot of MJ’s play, asking for his ticket

6) Removed Peter confronting Harry outside the theater
i. Reason: Spider-Man 3 seemed to beat us over the head about so many things, trying to MAKE us feel something, rather than letting the drama take the viewer on a journey, and let them get lost in the film, instead of creating artificial drama

7) Removed Peter/MJ conversation backstage. Too skippy and pointless. Also, MJ knows Peter’s secret as Spider-Man, so why would he hide what happened between him and Harry (and how could MJ not piece it together, she’s not an idiot), so that piece of dialogue “Whats with you guys, anyways,” has been removed.

8) Flint Marco visiting his daughter is now the following scene. Added a slow fade out and blend when his wife lowers her head at the end of the scene, it blends into Peter and MJ’s scene on the web in the park

9) Harry coming out of the chamber with the Goblin gas has been removed.
i. Reason: Wanted to leave the mystery as to what Harry did at the end of Spider-Man 2 in as long as possible. I also felt it removed a great deal of Harry’s threat while at MJ’s play when we see him “power up” a few scenes later. Again, its telegraphed and false drama.

10) After Peter and MJ ride off on the bike, we go directly into Marco being chased through the marshlands

11) Conversation between Capt. Stacy and officer about thinking they had Marco removed. (Pointless scene)

12) Idiot scientist have been cut from Marco’s accident. We are now totally placed in his perspective, alone in the pit as the device bears down on him.

13) Film moves into Peter telling May he’s going to marry MJ

14) Removed first part of May’s talk with Peter, talking about how Uncle Ben was nervous before asking her to marry him, and her saying no at first, ect. Touching, but irrelevant to this film. May now hugs Peter, and while hugging him, a voice over begins with her saying “A man has to be understanding..” and the conversation picks up from there

15) Removed May speaking of Uncle Ben’s death, and what their annerversiary would have been. That storyline has been laid to rest in Spider-Man 2, and May is a kind woman, she wouldn’t beat Peter over the head about it. You can see the sadness in her though, as she does cry a bit, and Peter cannot hold her gaze.

16) Spider-sense added just before Harry carriers Peter off his bike. (It works, as Peter’s face goes from happy to concerned just before Harry grabs him)

17) Removed the contrived “You knew this was coming, Pete” line while Harry hovers over Peter

18) Added blur effect to Harry just before he punches through the wall, makes his attack seem more powerful

19) Reduced a great deal of damage to Peter during the fight (Harry dragging him along walls, ect), trying to reduce the perception of Peter’s invulnerability in this film.

20) Cut some of Harry’s X-games flying through the allyway. Pointless sequence

21) Re-arranged scene where Harry throws the buzz bombs at Peter. Harry throws one, then five more, at which point Peter looks back and says “Hate those things.”

22) Again, cut out Peter getting cut to shreds by the buzz bombs, trying to reduce the fact Peter can take insane amounts of damage, and it not do anything to him. Peter now tricks Harry going going back into the bombs after saying “Hate those things”

23) Reduced mis-placed comedy where Harry hits his head after Peter nails him with the webline. That should not be a comedic moment, which it was in the original.

24) Following Peter watching the doctors try to revive Harry, we move into Sandman re-assembling himself in the pit.

25) I realize this is daytime, but there is nothing showing what time of day it is in the hospital when Peter learns Harry is ok. (which in the original, it was set at night) This allows me to keep the timeline working, as the next several scenes are in the daytime

26) Added Harry flashback flying on his glider when saying “Last thing I remember, I was…”, just like the scene where Norman is in his mansion, and can’t remember what he did the previous night.

27) Removed Harry’s “My best friends, I’d give my life for them” speech, again redundancy. For those who have seen either the first or second film, or read the comics, or watched the cartoons (Which covers about anyone) they know Harry’s arc is a tradegy. Stop creating false drama.

28) Removed MJ’s “You guys seem great” comment as well

29) Next scene is Eddie at the Bugle trying to sell his photos to Jameson. (Two scenes with Eddie now in the first 25min of the movie, as opposed to none until 40min into the original film)

30) Jameson vibrating desk gag removed. Its funny, but doesn’t fit, too over the top.

31) Move into Harry coming home, though the scene is cut after Harry says “Maybe I can turn this no girlfriend thing around.” No beating over the head about Harry and his father, nor Peter’s memory of having watched him die. Again, artificial drama.

32) Marco’s first attack in New York is now a stand alone scene, separate from the Spidey Day, which is a stand alone sequence now as well. We now move into Marco on the street, being pursued by the two cops into the sand truck

33) After Marco flys down the street, we move to Peter back in his apartment, looking at his ring for MJ

34) MJ’s talk with Peter has been altered to make her much more sympathetic, and not whiney or needy.
i. MAJOR goal of this film was to make MJ a MUCH stronger character who keeps doing the best she can, but keeps getting dumped on. My audience during our preview all felt really bad for MJ as the film progressed.

35) Adjusted police scanner to remove comment about the crane, it now seems to reference Marco’s attack, at which point Peter leaves MJ alone.

36) Obviously, the next sequence is Marco’s attack on the armored car, and his fight with Spidey

37) Next scene after Peter is emptying the sand from his shoes (although I cut the “Pfttt!”. I did like that, so help me, but it just didn’t work with the transition to the next scene) is MJ walking into the theater to find out they cut her.
i. This works out really great when Spiderman/Peter swings by her once she walks out of the theater.

38) The next sequence is still Spidey Day, but it’s a stand alone scene now, no Marco attack

39) Removed Peter dancing to the band

40) Edited scene to remove any breaks for Marco

41) Removed Peter standing behind a crowd of thousands with his mask off (who thought that scene up??)

42) Scene breaks away after little kid says “Yuck” into the exterior shot of the restaurant where Peter’s trys to ask MJ to marry him.

43) Dinner progresses as filmed, except for some adjustments after Gwen comes along and talks to Peter.
i. Reason: To make MJ much more hurt by what has happened (With Peter not listening to her about the play, losing her part, Spider-man kissing Gwen, and now she finds out they have a history together as lab partners, and Peter never told her)

44) New transition sequence after Peter learns Sandman killed Ben. Now leads into Peter in his apartment turning up the volume on his scanner, and changing into his Spiderman suit. Pete is consumed by the symbiont directly after.

45) We now see the symbiont consume Peter's regular spider logo on his chest and replace it with the more aggressive silver one. Included in this is the voice over of Peter screaming at the mugger "ANSWER ME!" as the logo changes, and right after it changes there is a shot of peter looking down at the mugger after he fell out the window with a slight smile on his face. The scene then plays out as normal.

46) ) This leads in to the web slinging sequence, which has been spliced together with the sequence where he goes to the bank Marco just robbed. The scene now runs as if Peter stumbles upon the bank robbery while trying out the new suit. A voice over saying "Marco" when he sees sand running into the sewer lets the viewer know what has happened here, and it sets the motivation of Peter to just suddenly rip out a whole section of asphalt and dive in the sewer. Basically makes the symbiont takeover and the bank robbery happen at the same time, same night
a. All scenes that happened between Peter landing on the tower, and jumping off, have either been removed or re-located to another part in the film, including him taking his mask off while on the tower.

47) Removed shot of Spider-Man swinging in the sewer after he breaks the pipe to drown Marco. Never could understand what that shot was there for anyways. Spidey now just sits there and watches Marco go to pieces, and says “Good Riddance”

48) Removed shot of Peter in the allyway combing his hair down to look “badder”

49) Symbiont monster looking back at Peter in the mirror when he returns home has been added back into the film. Its very creepy. I can see why Rami cut it for the young kids. Scene cuts to black for a few seconds before the next scene starts

50) The next scene fades in with Peter in the corner, (sequence that was, in the theatrical cut, where he was listening to the police scanner looking for Marco) I added in MJ knocking on the door and asking to be let in. Peter’s mannerismns (clearly unnerved) and agitation work well with his feelings after seeing whatever it was in the mirror, and MJ has intruded on him. Combining this with the fact he does have the black suit on at this point helps to set up his motivations for acting the way he does towards MJ in this scene.

51) After Peter tells MJ he doesn’t need her help, we go to the sequence of her walking out of the club, having accepted the singing waitress position, and her call to Harry for company.

52) Added exterior shot of NY from Spider-Man 2 to help transition from the Harry/MJ conversation to the Peter/May converstation about revenge

53) Transition into the exterior of Harry’s house, and MJ getting off the elevator. Kept this scene in to show MJ’s feelings at this point, she’s clearly having second thoughts, but appreciates having someone show they actually care about her at this point

54) DANCING IN THE KITCHEN IS TOTALLY GONE!!!!

55) From MJ stepping off the elevator, we move into Peter and Conners studying the sample of the symbiont. When Conners says “These things can be hard to unbind” we cut back into MJ and Harry, where they are doing Harry’s play he wrote for her.

56) Added in Goblin laugh when Harry looks at Normans picture

57) Added voice over as Harry approaches the mirror, it now says:
“Harry….you swore to make Spider-Man pay?...... (as Harry touches the mirror)…now make him pay”
At which point Harry’s flashback continues, though edited.

58) When Harry thinks of Peter, its now the scene from Spider-Man 2 where Harry says “You stole MJ from me, you stole my fathers love…..then you let him die!?” at which point we fade back in to Harry looking in the mirror, and Norman looking back at him.

59) Following the “Attack his heart” line, we go to Peter thinking about calling MJ, and his talk with the landloard

60) Peter dials the phone at the end, and it leads right into where MJ walks into her apartment, and Peter starts to leave her his message, at which point Harry ambushes her

61) Harry now says “Your going to do something for me.” No comment about “If you want Peter to live.” He’s freaking Spider-Man, he can take care of himself!!!!

62) Next scene is Peter asking by MJ to the bridge in the park.

63) This scene EDITED HEAVILY to cut out Peter’s crying. The video is up on youtube for those who have not seen it. Peter acts much more like a man now, he gets emotional (as most would when someone they want to marry breaks up with them) but he never cries and starts begging.

64) Harry watching from the bushes cut

65) MJ walking from the bridge cut, she didn’t seem very upset to me, honestly

66) Scene fades from Peter standing on the bridge alone into the exterior of the coffee shop, and into the talk with Harry

67) Removed the “box” from the sequence before Peter goes to attack Harry.

68) Removed most of the juvenile conversation between Peter and Harry before they fight in the mansion. Harry now says “…right, Mr. Key to the City?” at
which point Peter jumps him.

69) Removed jazz score (lame lame lame. Who’s idea was this one??). There is no childlike comments between the two now, as they fight with wreckless abandon. (remember, this fight has been brewing for three films now) The only time anyone talks is when Peter is goading Harry on.

70) Added Spider-sense just before the pumpkin bomb flies past Peters head

71) Adjusted following scene where Peter see’s the fake picture by Brock on the papers. Also changed music and removed Peter’s “I’m going to put some dirt in your eye.” Line

72) Removed increadibly lame sequence with Peter doing his “Saturday Night Fever” strut (thanks HISHE) down the street, and gyrating for the cameras.

73) Added in black suit Spidey flipping in the air, Peter hitting on Betty, and demanding the staff job for the Black Suit Spider-Man shots after he exposes Brock. Removed the silly music, and added in the music from Spider-Man 1 when Uncle Ben dies, very fitting considering what Peter is becoming.

74) Removed Brock watching Peter and Gwen walk into the Jazz Room, needed a shot of Brock unused in the film for his sequence following the credits. Only reason its gone

75) Removed Peter playing on the piano and over the top dancing. He now gets Gwen up and starts dancing with her right after MJ’s song starts. (The same way as Adigitalman’s sequence was: used with permission)

76) No edits until after Peter gets the suit off. Adjusted sequence after Venom roars at the camera and we fly into his mouth, the screen goes black as his roar fades, then into the exterior shot of Peters apartment.

77) After the shot of Peter in the shower, there is a nighttime shot of New York added, then Peter wandering the streets and looking up at MJ, before walking away before she looks down at him. The Aunt May conversation has been moved to later.

78) Venom/Sandman conversation heavily edited: Venom no longer says "I want to kill him too, thats why I've been looking for you." now says "I've been looking for you." and leads into his speech. No comments about Sandman wanting Spidey dead are left, because he doesn't want him dead, just out of the way. Sandman never verbally agrees or nods to Venom’s proposal, just looks very unnerved.

79) Butler scene totally removed, as is Peter asking Harry for help

80) Directly after this conversation, Venom jumps MJ in the taxi.

81) The reporters are left in (as there is no way to cut them out completely), so they give a brief 15 second flashback of all that’s happened, and that’s it, you don’t see them again. This is also there so

82) From the reporters, we cut to MJ in the cab, which starts falling after a few seconds, cut to

83) Peters apartment, where he pulls out the red and blues again, to the beat of Danny Elfman’s “He’s Back” from Spider-Man 2 (check out the return to action clip for a rough idea)

84) FINAL BATTLE NOTES: All clips of reporters, crowds, Jameson, kids have been removed. We focus on the battle the whole time (Which is actually quite intense), except for one crowd reaction shot when Peter saves MJ from falling.

85) When Peter lands on the cab, all the cliché talk between MJ and Peter is gone; MJ now says “Peter” and then Peter gets blasted through the cab by Venom

86) Removed Venoms whining. Peter says, “We can find a way to settle this,” to which Venom responds “Your so right… I’m thinking humiliation.”

87) Added Spider-sense right before Sandman rears up

88) Removed Sandman’s rour before hitting Peter

89) Removed Peter saying “You came” to Harry when he shows up, as in this cut, we don’t know why Harry is there yet.

90) Removed any use of “Pete” by Harry from the final battle. I’m sure Peter liked his secret identity being yelled out to everyone

91) Removed Peter’s speech about the suit to Brock. He just says “You’ve got to take it off.” To which Brock replies, “Oh, you’d like that wouldn’t you? I like being bad…it makes me happy”

92) Harrys sacrifice is adjusted to not be so telegraphed and more noble

93) Removed Peter reaching the the metal shard, just have him look at it then web shoot.

94) The sequence where Peter battles Venom for the last time, I've changed the music to theme's from Spiderman 1. When Peter starts to pull Eddie out of the symbiont, I added the music in SM1 where Peter throws the Goblin back against the wall after Goblin tries to skewer him. When the symbiont attacks by itself, it’s the music where Goblin says “Godspeed Spiderman”, and as Eddie jumps into the symbiont to stop the Pumpkin Bomb, the responsibility theme starts up, and plays softly until Peter and Marco begin talking.

95) Harry dying while they talk has been removed. You don’t see Harry after his fall until Peter comes down to check on him

96) Flint Marco/Peter forgiveness conversation tweaked for repetativeness/pacing

97) Added “I’m not a bad person, just had bad luck.” To their conversation just before Peter says “I forgive you”

98) Much of Peter’s crying has been removed during this talk. He cries, but its more like a man now.

99) Added flashback while Harry and Peter have their final talk, where Peter asks Harry for help, and Harry tells him to get out. Explains why Harry came, and makes his death that much more tragic, revealing this at that moment.

100) Added voice over and music from Spider-Man 1 at the funeral, “No matter what I do, no matter how hard I try, the ones I love (shot moves to MJ at those words) are always the ones who pay.”

101) Moved the Aunt May conversation to after the funeral, where she tells Peter she knows he’ll find a way to make things right. Tweaked her dialoge to make it fit after Harry’s funeral. Scene works really well, especially how it fades in with Peter sitting alone in the corner

102) Added final swing to the film, and a voice over: “Whatever comes our way, whatever battle we have raging inside us, we always have a choice. It’s the choices that make us who we are. Who am I? I’m Spiderman” cue final swing.

103) New end credits music added (He’s Back from SM2, Walter Reed, and Sorry from Buckcherry)

104) Eddie Brock added at the end of the credits, the shot of him standing on the curb I deleted from earlier in the film, with a Venom voice over, “Never wound….what you can’t kill” cut quick to black.

End

Didn´t read all the changes you made, but point 104 sold me.

There are some things I personally would change or leave alone, but there are a lot of improvements in here most definitely. I'd like to do my own edit of Spider-Man 3...How would I go about doing this?

^^ Yah, I would like to know that as well...

maybe the new version will make me appreciate the film.

Wow, I thought this was dead and buried so I stopped checking up on this thread, but I just stumbled back upon it. That trailer you put up honestly gave me goosebumps (kudos on the Star Trek trailer music). I MUST see this edit! If you put it out and make it available on DVD or anything whenever it finally sees the light of day, I will be first in line to watch!

I thought of someting, what if you used some footage to try and show Eddie Brock's obtaining Pete's memories during the Venom transformation, a bit like the comic book "The Black".

"The Black"...

a store's(Wal-Mart?) version of trying to tie the loose ends of Venom when Raimi was too lazy enough to do it himself.

Christmas Can't Get Here Soon Enough!

I'm Really Interested In your Cut Vash, Because It Pleases My Venom Fan Side, Expands On The Aftermath Of The Final Battle, Stronger Overtones, And Most Important...

YOU GAVE PETER SOME BALLS!!! I Like The Drama Of Peter's Life But I HATE THE EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE!!! Rami Didn't Have To Beat Us Over The Freaking Head With It!!

And A Quick Question: Can You Upload This To Megaupload? I Don't own A Rapidshare Premium Account, So It Makes It Hard For Me Watch Good Cuts Like This!

Once Again: Great Job!!!! Keep Up The Good Work!!!:applaud: :applaud:

Is there any hope we'll ever see this cut? All of the clips/trailers have been taken down. :csad:

Whats to stop one of us from doing this now? I'd totally be down for doing something like this but it'd be a pain to do it by myself.

=(

i'm definitely thinking bout maybe putting this together. would that be okay? i'd be giving credit for the structure and whatnot.

I just ripped ALL the vocals from the Spider-Man Movie game for PC, so if you need any lines by Tobey Maguire to change or fill in I think I have somewhere around 500 tracks.

are there any good lines from the Spider-Man movie game? i'm thinking bout maybe looking at Spider-Man 2 movie game as well as Spider-Man 3. But it'd be kinda cool to see some good lines from the first movie game that'd be well enough to use, kinda similar to how in a fanedit of Batman Begins they used voices from the video game to patch up a little bit of story.
