McFarlane did not, in fact, create Venom. There was a huge debate about it years ago, which is summed up nicely in the Wikipedia.org article about Venom. The black costume was designed before McFarlane worked for Marvel. The self-healing costume was a rejected Ironfist idea from Marvel, and the idea to go with a body builder instead of a woman for the host for the Venom symbiote was the idea of an editor, not a lowly artist who's only part in the "invention" of Venom was the mouth. that was it... And it was Larson, not McFarlane, who made Venom into the crazy tongued, crazy-eyed, drooling monster we loved in the '90's before oversaturation and bad writing merged Venom with the Scorpion and sealed my loathing for current Marvel "thinktanks."

But yes, once Marvel did, infact, try to take Spawn to court as a direct rip of their characters, but like with City of Heroes PC game, the court said they were not alike ENOUGH to violate copywrite laws...

So I'm gonna make a character that looks EXACTLY like Batman, but with green eyes, a clown nose, and chicken feathers on his arms and legs, and DC can't do anything about it, long as I got the chicken feathers! BWAHAHAHAHA!

Brilliant work. Why? Because it looks like it came out of my dreams. THIS is how cool a villian Spidey could be fighting: raw, powerful, and terrifying. Not what you find in your average power-rangers episode. Thank you for raising the bar for sony and raimi to reach although they'll probably not care and do their own thing which is their right, but it just won't meet certain expectations this individual has for anything involving venom... just being realistic.

Sony did that to me too, when I posted here about my custom made Spidey 3 teaser posters a few months ago (which, by pure coincidence, were almost spot-on with what they did... a greyscale version of the regular costume!)... anyway... Sony's lawyers emailed me requesting I take down the images or they would persue legal action... all because I took some of the Spidey 1 & 2 images and doctored them up a tad. hehehe... go figure.

Well, considering I linked to my website, coz that's where the images were hosted, that's how they threatened me. I suppose I could just go with a anonymous image hosting service, but I didn't think of that at the time. Anyway, I want good karma with Sony, so that I get a working PS3 later this year. ;-)

No, I didn't hire a staff... I grabbed a bunch of laid-off X-mas elves to do it... And yeah, it was Sony's legal team, coz the domain name in the emailer's addy took you to a law office website... Coz at first I thought it was a prank...

And I'm PS3 ready, I got me the 42" Grand Wega. I don't care about 1080p, coz I'm so blind, 480p and 720p look almost the same to me. heh... They better let you play as Venom in the PS3 SM3 game, otherwise I'll be forced to do something drastic... like... like... pledge my affections and support to Harry Knowles... *shudders*
