Does anyone have any info on what materials they used for the eye pieces and or a tutrorial on how to go about making them?

All I know is that Oakley made the eye pieces for the first movie or something.

from close ups, it looks like a ton of very thin metal wires overlapping so it's still possible to see thru. ???
