Comics Spidey Comics Future ?

OMD sets the table for BND.

It's only going to get worse.

It's funny to have any sort of (positive) expectation at this point.

Whoopie!...they're calling it all "Amazing" and hired some good creative teams as a smoke and mirror scheme for after the great train wreck JQ has wrought upon us now.

Those good creative teams might acually bring smiles to our faces instead of doing what JQ did. Trust me, BND will be better than OMD even if there are a good amount of dissapointing things in it. OMD ruined Harry's death and retconned the past 20 years. It just makes me so dissapointed.

I'm glad someone else can distinguish between the fact that Quesada rushed this retcon and that Dan Slott is a fantastic writer and great at continuity. Honestly, maybe this is why Dan Slott is put into the writing position after this due to his great grasp of Marvel continuity.

Honestly, I think that last scene in the final part of One More Day is set in the past, previous to Hary Osborn dying. Pete and MJ not getting married would have no bearing on whether Harry was the Green Goblin or not. But if that's the route they are going to go then there are literally dozens upon dozens of events that never happened.

If Harry Osborn is still alive then that means Ben Reilly is still alive. That means that Norman Osborn being the mastermind BEHIND the Clone Saga never happened because he was doing that as revenge for Harry. And then that means that Peter's fake parents never happened. And so on and so on and so on.

It really is a nightmare if that's how they are going to work it, hahaha. I really hope that was in the past to just show that Pete and MJ DIDN'T get married and that when Brand New Day starts we'll be sucked into the present day.

But, I don't know though...it really was odd with that ending like they made it seem like Harry was back in the fold. If that's true then there goes ANOTHER great Spider-Man story written by a great Spidey writer down the tubes, haha. How come a lot of these other comic guys don't just bull rush Quesada's office and throw him out the window for spitting on Spider-Man comic history?

I was all for the ending of the marriage but not by a crapily rushed retcon.

But, in the end, my Spidey comics future is looking pretty good. Why you ask? Because Dan Slott is writing the Amazing Spider-Man and I've been waiting to see this since the end of the Spider-Man/Human Torch miniseries years back. And Steve McNiven's pencils are just an added bonus to me. One More Day may have been an extremely disappointing story and an unnecessarily rushed story, but the stories previous to that were really good. Excluding The Other and Sins Past...we've really had some sweet Spidey storytelling and fantastic artists. Romita Jr. Deodato. Garney. And while you may hate Quesada he is a solid artist. He just sucks as at decisions concerning Spider-Man, heh.

How exactly does BND look like 'one of the most promising Spider-Man arcs in recent years'? Do you know any of the plot details? Do you have any idea of the content of the story beyond the solicitation synopsis? No- I didn't think so. What exactly is so promising about it?

I have come to believe that Blader5489 works for Marvel in some fashion. He constantly states how great the future will be without ANY information about what the future may hold. And thinking he's a plant is kinder than thinking he's just a fool... but it's definitly one or the other.

Yes, the future looks great.

Everything old is new again!

Pete will be eating wheatcakes while Aunt May can love and coddle him when Deb Whitman refuses to date him because he is too uptight.

Meanwhile, MJ won't date Pete either, she'll be too busy fighting crime and building the Jackpot mobile, and obviously Marvel won't want those two gettting close after spending so much time and (brilliant-ha!) effort re-writing continuity to seperate them to begin with.

Maybe Pete will save up some money from taking photos again, to re-build the spidey-mobile and Doc Ock will re-marry Aunt May. However, if THAT happens, Doc Ock and Aunt May better pray they don't have any old relatives in the local nursing homes, especially ones who recently may have gotten shot up, or else the anti-marriage fairy, Mephisto, (marvel's new coolest villian) will be-bop along and save the elderly and erase Aunt May and Doc Ock's wedding. (also, reviving uncle ben in the process, and giving Aunt May new Wheatcake powers along with a new cool LAs Vegas inspired outfit.)

Oops....i just gave away spoilers for the next year's new BND (Ultimate-Ultimate Spider-Man).

i agree

Okay, I'm new here, but after this issue I really wanted to find a place to talk about what happened. This thread seemed shorter than the other OMD threads so I wanted to post a thought here, especially since one of the posters brought up that Peter is not back to the time when Harry and Gwen are alive.
He is. He's time traveled. If you haven't ripped your copy up yet, go take another look. He's singing "Feeling Groovy", by Simon and Garfunkel, which came out in 1967. He looks younger. Also, check the board for the performers outside the hotel Harry is at. Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin, etc. Mephisto hasn't changed the present, at least not yet. He's sent Peter back in time in which case I can only imagine things will now change that will make it so he and MJ do not get together and he does not reveal his identity. Or, that during this time travel Doctor Strange will actually do his freakin job, figure out that time has been horribly and mystically altered, and fix all of this. That's where I think Brand New Day is going. This isn't the present, it's the past, and since it does not seem like anything in the other comics has really been effected by this as of yet, we can sort of hope and assume that this little time travel thing will be resolved back to us having the continuity we have been reading for the past 20 years, with maybe a few changes.
That being said, I really wish they had just killed Aunt May and I have no problem with MJ and Peter being married. I was really shocked that this happened, but I feel that this whole thing will not stay as bad as it is. Harry isn't alive in the present. He's just not dead yet. Hopefully we'll just see an interesting little what if arc of the late 60's and somehow things will then get back on track.

I'd agree with you Cyberus because I thought the same things. But Joe Quesada, in a recent interview, came right out and confirmed that Harry Osborn is going to be alive.

Cyberus, I was really shocked that this happened as well. If only Spidey was being held by a different writer, then we wouldn't be in this mess. SpideyInATree, you brought up some really nice points as well.

As I was posting this an idea came into my head. What if Dan Slott had been writing Spidey since John Romita Jr.'s last work on Amazing Spider-Man? would we have had better storylines then we did from Sins Past all the way to now? I think it was really quite possible. Dan Slott is a great writer and I did really like some JMS's stuff, but as I have stated before, Sins Past, The Other etc. were bad.

Oh man. If Dan Slott were writing Amazing at the end of The Book of Ezekiel than this board would be like heaven. In fact, I don't think anybody would post in this board anymore because the only thing that seems to have kept this board going is the constant hatred and disgust with Joe Quesada, JMS, The Iron Spidey Cosutme, Sins Past, The Other, The Unmasking, hahahaha.

But, yeah, it is a nice thought to think that. Maybe I should make a deal with the devil to make Dan Slott the writer of Amazing like four years ago. :oldrazz:

Yeah, if only it was real and not a dream though. :yay::csad:

This Pete should be wearing a dunce's hat and some pampers.

Sheesh.
