Yep, he's still there after Civil War. Source: http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=98053

Today we wrap up our look at Brian Bendis’ new New Avengers line-up (as of next month’s New Avengers #27) with our final of eight roster confirmations. This last one isn’t a shocker, but does open as many questions as it answers. For more on that, see below…

SEN_35_1.jpg
WHO: Spider-Man (a.k.a. Peter Parker)

WHAT BRIAN BENDIS SAYS: "Spider-Man – the man who made the biggest ***** move of 2006 [laughs]…. He has a lot to answer for.

“There is a lot going on with Spider-Man post-Civil War, not much of which I can discuss, because it will be happening in his own books. But everything that is happening in his books – which is major, major stuff – will be reflected in New Avengers, and the extra added bonus you get in our book is you get to see the rest of the Marvel Universe reacting to him.

“There is nothing better in the whole history of literary fiction than a guilt-ridden Peter Parker, and we have the ‘King Kong’ of guilt-ridden Peter Parker’s now, on this team, trying to make amends for all the damage that was done and all the damage he did in outing himself and dealing with the disastrous implications of what happened since.”

Q: So Leinil Yu will be drawing him in the Black suit, at least to start?

“Yes. He is in the Black suit. Everything that happens in New Avengers mirrors what happens in the Spider-Man books, will be reflected on, and readers will get to see new angles on it.”

So he's there along with Echo, Spider-woman, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

Plus Ronin, which is obviously either Cap, Daredevil or Hawkeye.

Not a bad line up, I'm one of the ones not actually so fussed with Spidey being in the Avengers. Good to know that his fugetive side isn't going to completely isolate him from the rest of the comic world too.

Wait a minute....Why Spidey can still stay in New Avengers when he is hunted and a fugetive?

Well looking at the members, they're all resistance members in Civil War. Plus there's the Mighty Avengers now so I'd imagine the NA are fugetives anyway.

The one damn thing I asked for Christmas...the one freaking thing...Spidey out of the Avengers......and no...that's too much to ask for......I'm guessing my "Other" and "Sins Past" retcons didn't get lost in the christmas mail rush either huh?.....*sigh* :(

But I'd assume that the Marvel Knights... err, the New Avengers will be a street level team with shabby headquarters... unless Danny Rand foots the bill ala Tony Stark. So Spidey's membership is much more valid... and remember... he's feeling like crap for how he turned his back on these people at the beginning of Civil War... so the direction looks promising.

I think I prefer the direction of this book moreso now with Spidey on the team than when issue #1 came out.

Just my 2 cents...

:yay:

They could also hide out in Strange's Sanctum, which would rule my world. (Spidey & Doc on the same team? I must have died and gone to Heaven!)

Stark and his goons will NEVER find them there.

the biggest ***** of 2006?AMEN TO THAT

Ugh....He's still an Avenger. I wonder if he'll stop being the useless comci relief, and show that he actually has some merit, this time? Probably not.

That's the whole reason I quit reading NA...Spidey was written as a total idiot. He never did anything usefull, and he managed to get his butt kicked EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Silly me...wanting Spidey to reamain an experienced warrior with a sense of humor who has earned the respect of his fellow colleagues....

I may pick this up...I may not. My weakness for the Black Costume may force my hand, but I don't see me adding this to my pull list unless it's INCREDIBLY good.

"We have the most guilt-ridden Peter Parker ever!"

Woo......freaking.....hoo.

More piss poor writing coming in 2007. Oh well at least we have the last Sam Raimi movie though.

From that black and white picture though, Spidey may even be a leader. I mean Ronin who could be Cap is placed way at the back and Bendis already tried to impliment Spider-woman as a sort of leader in the original team and yet Spidey's taking up the same page space as her.

Maybe he will be more of use this time round in that case.

I think it was stated in one of the Newsarama reveals that Cage takes the leader-role for this team.

Think so, never read Heroes for Hire, but I know Iron fist was in it too, so this is a bit of a reunion.

I'm wondering whos Ronin gonna turn out to be? Cap? Hawkeye? DareDevil? Scarlet Witch?

So the final roster is now

Spider-Man
Luke Cage
Iron Fist
Dr. Strange
Spider-Woman
Echo
Wolverine
Ronin

I don't know my friend, I have no problem with trying new things with characters but Spidey as an Avenger isn't new, it's been done....badly..and the next attempt is by the same guy who mucked it up the first time :(

...as for promising I guess I just don't get that assessment....We're rehashing the less than 2 years old "who's Ronin angle" that bombed so badly the first time around..(although at least we know it isn't echo this time)...and although I defend Bendis, the past couple of ish's of USM really make you wonder if he isn't severely over-worked (or simply losing his mind)...

regardless NA is still on my pull list so I'll definately be giving it a chance.....just not getting my hopes up....it makes for a less damaging fall :(

"Bombed"?

New Avengers has been one of Marvel's top sellers since it's inception.

I think it's Cap. From what i've been piecing together, it sounds like Cap will "die" during Civil War, but go underground and resurface as Ronin.

A Ronin is a samurai without a master, correct? And Cap is now at odds with his "master" (the US Government).

So perhaps Spidey is wearing black in honor of Captain America's "death", which hopefully means both Aunt May and MJ will survive.

I think both of them will fit in just fine in Dr. Strange's mansion. :yay:

The ending blew chunks to the Ronin Arc.....when I said it bombed I didn't mean its sales, I meant the arc was a dud....I have no idea how well it sells....not really relevant to me :)

Oh, ok.

I know what you mean, but for me it was the opposite. (i loved it).

Actually Ronin is the only arc I didn't like (and if I'm being honest the reveal and Spidey's constant "oy's" brought it down for me) I've liked pretty much everything else out of NA since its inception (yeah not a popular statement to make around here)...well the Hawkeye ish was a bit of a throw away for me as well.

Oh yeah. That Hawkeye issue sucked. I read it and was like "WTF?"

And why even bring Hawkeye back, if he's not even going to be on either Avengers team (unless he turns out to be Ronin, which makes no sense whatsoever).

Hawk would fit in great on the new team. And besides; he and Dr. Strange used to be Defenders together so he has ties to the new line up.

Hank would work....as you said Hawkeye would be a bit of a ????.....Personally I'd like it to be DD now that he's been cleared in the US and now that Marvel appears ready to reinject Kingpin as a Spidey rogue, there's potential in a Spidey/DD team up......course I thought the original Ronin was DD so what the hell do I know :woot:
