Spike 2009 Video Game Awards

I'm pretty stoked for the UFC Undisputed 2010 trailer.

Can't wait fro Halo: Reach & new SW game trailers! :D

Ugh.

More than anything else this show makes me feel embarassed.

I'm embarrassed for the developers and the journalists that have to put up with such a garish display.

I'm embarrassed for the celebrities that have to pretend they care about video games.

I'm embarrassed that this...

...is how the general public views the gaming industry.

And I'm embarrassed that in some small way, just because I love games, I'm associated with these *******s.

However, as I said in the other thread, I'll begrudgingly watch it to check out the trailers and announcements.

Last year was a giant Brutal Legend commercial that made me want to throw the TV out the window (my roommate was watching it). I'm so glad that it's sales were mediocre.

I'm looking forward to this just for the trailers alone haha.

Same here! I'm also interested in Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and any other surprise announcements (they've said they haven't revealed/teased everything they'll announce) they might have.

EDIT: For those interested, you'll be able to watch the VGAs online, live. More details here.

The only game awards worth paying any attention to are the AIAS Interactive Achievement Awards held yearly at the D.I.C.E summit, its the closest thing the gaming industry has to the Oscars and last yrs show was pretty good. Jay Moher was the host and was actually pretty funny.

As others have said tho, ill tune in to check out the new announcements, or i might not and just wait until they are all up online.

I am going to record it. I'll start watching it about 30-45 minutes after it starts so I can fast forward through the nonsense and get to the good stuff.

Thats not a bad idea, cuz theres gonna be a lot of nonsense.

I can't believe the number of people that watch this garbage.

I'd rather check out Gametrailers the next day to see what trailers was shown.

Looks like I'll be missing this, gonna be watching the UFC fights and recording the boxing fights.

They should've aired this in the middle of the week.

Meh. Like I said, I am going to fast forward through the show to get to the good stuff. I'd like to see the trailers and such in HD on my big screen that night rather than wait a day to view them. I'm some what an impatient person.

Except for the part about watching the show (which I won't be doing), I completely agree with you.

Geoff Keighley just promised over 12 exclusives.
So far we know Halo Reach, Tron, Medal of Honor, Crackdown 2, Star Wars, UFC 2010 Undisputed, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.
We also know about one game from 2K Games, and two games set in Japan (both teaser are on Gametrailers).
That makes it 10 games.
But the most interesting thing is this, from an interview with Destructoid:

"We definitely have some pretty major surprises still to come," he tells me. "Essentially, the biggest thing in the show hasn't even been announced yet."

So, what can it be?
The Agent?
A PS3 exclusive we don´t know about? (there is no PS3 exclusives up there)
The new Call of Duty?

My call is something from Epic, which there is a rumor that they are going to show something.
Either Gears of War 3 (which there is also the rumor that it might show) or the one made by People Can Fly, and published by EA.
My second call, Half-Life 2: Episode 3.
My third call, Zelda Wii, buti can´t see Nintendo showing anything there, the VGA it´s not really there thing.

There are several games that can end on showing...
From the top of my head, Deus Ex 3 or the Jason Bourne game, developed by Starbreeze and published by EA.

Does anyone think an announcement about a game going multi-plat coulld happen here or are those better left to E3 and GDC?

You mean a game that is exclusive going multipaltform?
Like Mass Effect going to the PS3 or The Agent going to the 360?
If that´s it, the answer is no.

I can't see Half-Life 2: Episode 3 being announced at the VGAs. Valve is pretty fickle about when and how they announce their games and the VGAs don't really seem like the right venue to announce a Half-Life game.

Same goes for Nintendo with Zelda.

The Spike TV audience probably doesn't care about Half-Life or Zelda.

I'm guessing the 2K game is whatever Ken Levine has been working on. (rumored to be some kind of X-COM revival). My pick for the "big" unannounced game is probably Gears 3.

I wonder if we will see the game that Eat Sleep Play (David Jaffe) has been working on.

Ooh! Twisted Metal. That's a good possibility too.

I'm going with HL2 ep3 as well. Valve isnt above it, no company is...im actually happy the way the VGA's are being presented now...how the announcements and trailers are the forefront. Hopefully it just turns into a prime time E3 like show.

Thinking about it some more, Fallout: New Vegas is due for a reveal trailer soon. Maybe The Elder Scrolls V as well. Oblivion was published by 2K so it's a possibility.

The 2k Game i was talking about is a war one in the likes of Modern Warfare.

But, even so, The Elder Scrolls V is a possibility.
Even if doesn´t appear, there is a huge possibility we get to see it further down the road (E3 maybe).
