2012 Spike VGAs

The Walking Dead won. Wow. Good for them, but totally surprised they won. I had thought it was a toss up between Assassin's Creed III and Dishonored.
TWD really picked up steam with the final episode. Haven't played it but heard a lot of great things about it and the game as a whole.

I was personally rooting for ACIII, but I've been hearing a lot of negative feedback against it which probably stems fro higher expectations.

Welp.

Looks like Geoff Keighley lied his ass off about the number of reveals as well as the type of games that would be revealed.

I'm not disappointed though. Dark Souls II and the Ground Zeroes "Phantom Pain" trailer were pretty awesome and genuinely unexpected.

So either his lies extend to tweets or 'Phantom Pain' is Project Ogre.

OR Metal Gear Solid 5. Kojima said that Ground Zeroes was a prologue to MGS5

Imo, the negative feedback probably comes from the modern storyline set in 2012. That is a piece of ****. Connors' story was amazing though and the only thing that made me love AC3.

Though I'm just pulling at nothing probably, watching that trailer again if it is MGS, I kinda wondered if the guy with his face completely covered that was leading "Snake" around was Frank. Probably not but it crossed my mind.

Do you guys think Phantom Pain should have its own thread or should we just discuss it in the Metal Gear thread?

I've never owned a Sony console in my life, so forgive my ignorance here, but seriously: has Hideo Kojima ever made anything else BUT MGS games? i.e., is there any reason at all to believe "The Phantom Pain" would be anything OTHER than yet another Metal Gear?

Heh, well I'm sure they will announce more soon. And if it is what the Doritos Lord has said and it's a new game, then it could be MGS5 and not Zeroes as you said. So I dunno lol. Maybe tomorrow we will hear more?

Ya Zone of Enders, Snatcher, Policenauts.

So now the question is. Will this take place after MGS4? Or is it more Big Boss? Which I figure that is more Ground Zeroes.

Linkin Park is only for video game and movie theme songs now :funny:

I remember when they were really good with their Reanimation CD.

Actually, Reanimation was remixes by other artists of their work although they added stuff too. Hybrid Theory and Meteora were both really good, everything after has been largely crap.

I missed the live showing, watching the repeat right now.

What really jumped out to me watching The Phantom Pain trailer was the character's facial structure, looks the same as Snake in Ground Zeroes. I mean, if the mullet and covered eye wasn't enough.

So I just saw the phantom pain trailer on YouTube…holy **** man that looked awesome, and yes this has to be something metal gear related, and that burning man definitely looked like volgin, which would be awesome

Bam.

I've never gotten into the MGS franchise, so I know nothing about it or the characters, but it will be very interesting to see what happens with "Phantom Pain" and if it is indeed related to MGS.

Didn't watch the show but I'm actually not annoyed with the results this year. TWD was great but I'd give Halo 4 the nod for my GOTY.

Other than that..Seems fairly solid.

Phantom Pain looked like a far more interesting version of the Ellen Page game. Like one with actual gameplay.

So now the question is. Will this take place after MGS4? Or is it more Big Boss? Which I figure that is more Ground Zeroes.

Could be connected to both. First thing I thought was this is the true opening to GZ, but the question is why would they hide it?

I assumed Ground Zeroes was a prologue set years before Metal Gear Solid 5. Like 5 would be a Snake or his successors story that would directly connect to GZ.There is also that burned guy in the GZ trailer. Of course there is also the possibly that Big Boss has been resurrected or just never died. Sounds like Kojima.

But if this is MGS5 it has to be some sort of prologue. It can't be the entire game.

Finally, it could just simply be a completely new game, but part of me doubts it. The trailer was very MGS Kojima.
