Since Marvel just trademarked Squirrel Girl who else thinks she will first appear in Jessica Jones?
It would kinda be awesome if at the end of The Defenders yet kick her out and she is next seen visiting the Great Lakes...

Since Jessica Jones will likely be the Alias storyline, I would be completely flabbergasted if Squirrel Girl were to appear. The tone is completely wrong. I think she could appear in Agents of SHIELD (which can have a lighter more silver age tone) or a one shot (most likely), but I can't see her appearing in the Netflix series.

Is the trademark to protect film interests anyway? Can't it just be because she's a comicbook character and they don't want anyone to steal her rights there.

Someone pointed out that Eden Sher could have auditioned for Squirrel Girl, and it makes so much sense that it's hard to ignore. If that is the case, she could be for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., she could be for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (although it would pretty well defeat the running joke of her to be in a series with a talking raccoon)...it's hard to say.

Once JJ and Cage have their baby and need a sitter, then the time will be right.

Yep, that was me (I assume).

Here's my original post:
Isn't she a mutant? Oh well, we know from the use of SW and QS that there are exceptions, so that might not exclude her. I wouldn't mind if she was introduced in a supporting role somewhere. Maybe she can be friends with Jessica Jones in her Netflix series.

It all makes sense now...
I give you Squirrel Girl:

If I were running things, I would have her be Jessica Jones's friend (her Foggy Nelson, if you will), and I would only allude to her powers at first, not really show them outright. If things go well, she could be expanded upon later.

She's a potential daughter of Thanos that even kicked Thanos's backside!

Maybe not the right thread to mention that!

so how would Squirrel girl's mutant, er, "meta" powers be explained in the MCU?

Bitten by a squirrel that got hit by an alien meteorite, taken to a lab and experimented upon, and then got loose, swimming through a vat of radioactive chemicals on the way out.

Maybe she was born with them?

Yeah, I don't think they will need to give a real in-depth explanation into how she got her powers. Maybe they say she was born with them, maybe they say she just woke up one day with the powers, or maybe she just has them, and they don't say anything to explain how she got them.

Granted, I don't think Squirrel Girl will be used at all, but it's really easy to explain the concepts of mutants without using the M word - particularly since mutants were only created because Stan Lee didn't feel like thinking up origin stories for his entire team of heroes. "Born with them" is the easiest, simplest way to give someone superpowers.

Monkey Joe powers activate! I like this. I'd like it if done as not a total goof. It might disrupt story if she has deus ex machine squirrels at her side.

Squirrel Girl is a joke character. I can think of so many better characters to use.

Born to inhuman parents, raised out in the woods where her one constant companions are a troop of squirrels led by her childhood pet named Monkey Joe.

Unknown to many she was targeted by agents of the cosmic villain known as Thanos who ended up trying to acquire a valuable Terrigen Crystal only for it to be dropped and destroyed during an encounter with the still nonpowered Squirrel Girl and her animal allies.

The Terrigen Crystal activated Squirrel Girl's abilities (mostly due to the large presence of Squirrels rather than a radioactive Squirrel nibble) and in addition to the proportionate abilities of a human sized Squirrel she gained the cosmic ability to summon her Squirrel Allies anywhere, any when and did I mention they were also effected by the Terrigen Mist? (Well that explains how Squirrel Girl kicked Thanos's backside of course Thanos still claims that was a Skrull sorry some other shapeshifting race of aliens using his form for intimidating purposes... well at least Doom can claim he's no longer part of the MCU as a valid excuse...) .

Does that sound better?

I'd rather have needles in my eyes than have to tolerate a character called "squirrel girl" in any of these shows.

"So how did you get your powers?"

"I found them in the park."

It doesn't make any sense, but this is Squirrel Girl we're talking about.

I was thinking sidekick or gofer working for Jessica as a former hero herself I can see Squirrel Girl's parents thinking Jessica can persuade their daughter out of a superhero career at least until she can get through school or college.

Of course given her ability to talk to Squirrels I imagine she could serve as a humourous form of tracker since she can tell the others where so and so is or spread gossip that seems odd until they realise it is relevant say if a friend is being held captive and she goes looking for help... Heh now I'd willingly pay to watch a series that sees David Tennant mobbed by an army of squirrels!:woot:

She wouldn't mesh with the tone of the Defenders characters at all.

I think she could potentially be a fun little side character. I mean, the shows won't be completely dour and Jess' series has a lot of sort of meta commentary on superheroes in general. A girl whose power is talking to squirrels is a pretty easy character to fit into that kind of humor.
