Superman Returns SR Sequel: $200 million or else!?

I think SR will do well on DVD, just like King Kong did, people seem to have a problem watching longer movies ever since the LOTR movies came out, they tend to wait for the DVD so they can have breaks etc. Didnt KK sell the same amount of DVD's in one week that WOTW sold in 3 months? Not sure whether thats accurate but i remember hearing something like that. Anyway i think SR will make a killing on DVD.

I agree...Batman Begins has $125million in dvd sales. SR should definately be up there.

The facts are wheter you like them or not is PM made nearly a billion dollars which means alot more people saw it than SR simple math really.

Re-read I said clearly that people who take internet polls and reviewrers are a small maybe 10% of the actual movie going audience again thats a simple fact you can check yourself if you doubt me.

A movie does not make a billion dollars if more people dislike it than like it.

So simple facts show since it made nearly a billion dollars vs a movie that is not even at 400 million that more people liked PM than SR.

Well SR made more than X1, just below X2 and i think (dont quote me on this) X3 made over $100 million more. Yet i think SR, X1 and X2 are all better than X3 and from what i have seen on these boards, a lot of people agree with me.

There was an article on Variety, I believe, that said its total sales was 167 m - I guess that includes foreign figures.

I remain foolishly optimistic that SR will eventually hit 200 million domestic and perhaps 400 million worldwide. As long as its been shown in IMAX and conventianal cinemas (and it is) its got a chance, a small chance but still.

There is hope for a 200 million gross as long as WB keeps the movie in IMAX ( heck i dunno if you checked retro , but here in Holland SR is now only shown in IMAX ).

Remember The Polax Express. That movie didn't open great at the BO , but it just kept on chugging along chugging along and eventually it made more then it's budget at the domestic BO.
If WB keeps this moie in IMAX , i can see it getting the 200 million mark. Not sure about the 400 tough

True. The Imax showings were more packed then the normal theatrical ones. However , now that i think about it i don't think SR will be long in theaters. I dunno if you've watched at the Pathe IMAX , but there are at least 3 movies that showed their previews . AntBully , Barnyard and Happy Feet although Happy feet has been reduced to just a 2D movie. All are kids movies as K3 has pointed out , them kids love those movies
So yeah , hopefully they'll continue showing SR alongside those other movies.

When a movie has over a billion dollars in ticket sales, and also a high VHS sales, which Titanic had the highest when released on VHS, and also wins 13 Oscars, inculding best pic of the year, then it is safe to say that the people have spoken that the movie is of the quality.
