This will haunt your dreams...

I tried watching the first one of the new season and couldn't get past the first 15 minutes. I'll wait for more and binge them. So far this show just makes me think the CW made a Star Trek show.

Random : I get it now why alcohol was replaced by synthehol abord starships.
I got a thing for Singh.

SDCC is premiering the Lower Decks crossover. Probably not the most financially smart thing to to do rush accross the country to try and see it.

The crossover episode is on Paramount Plus pretty early.

Strange New Worlds has become the first Star Trek series to have a live-action/ animation hybrid and a full-on musical.

Don't be surprised if SNW's musical episode may spawn a Star Trek live musical.

So now a musical? Yup certainly not CW, lol.

Oh and by the way, there are people that worked on this show that actually worked on CW shows. So it isn't that much of a stretch. You might notice some common things, like an entire musical episode for instance. So if you didn't see the connection before, maybe now it is more obvious.

I have seen all 703 episodes of live action Star Trek from before the JJ reboot, most of them multiple times, and your contention that Strange New Worlds has more in common with a CW series than those series is utterly baseless.

You do realize that the classic Trek series all had lighter, humourous high concept episodes? Including the Harry Mud episodes from TOS, various Holodeck episodes and other episodes like Menage a Trois and Qpid on TNG, as well as a lot of the Ferengi episodes and Take Me Out to the Holosuite from DS9. That is one of the great parts about episodic Trek, the writers can experiment and play around with a variety of genres and tones.

I don't know if you have noticed, but your criticisms are basically falling on deaf ears. You don't like Strange New Worlds and that is fine, but maybe you should reconsider hanging around here constantly complaining and harshing the buzz of those who enjoy this show. I can't stand Into Darkness, Discovery, or most of Picard, but nothing I could say would change the minds of those who were fans. At a certain point, it just makes more sense to say "to each their own" instead of continuing to bang your head against the wall.

*misjuevos posting about SNW contradicting canon or feeling like a CW show*

...Im sure because plenty of people have already pointed it out but...you do know that CW didnt invent the musical episode?

There are plenty of writers who have written on CW shows and gone on to other things. Whedon did Toy Story to WB to Fox to Marvel.

You have numerous writers and a producer from the CW on this show. Now you add a musical which the CW loved doing. So, I don't think it is baseless in comparing the two. Also no one forces you to respond to anything I post. This post is obviously different because I quoted you, so a response is expected but not guaranteed. You can do whatever you want, I don’t care. There are plenty of people who just like to comment and not quote or reply. I figure they don’t want to discuss and just want to chime in. So I don’t feel the need to respond always to them.

So, I only came to revisit my old post about this show "being like the CW" after I was told there is a musical episode coming out now. So, if you don't want to discuss it with me, don't quote me and I won't respond to you. But don't forget this is an open forum and this is a general forum for the show. So, when there is some news about the show, I might feel like posting. So, I will post what I want, where I want, within the guidelines of the forum.

Yes I am aware, but my whole point was comparing this to the CW. And now that there is a musical episode which the CW loved doing, it seems more and more CW. To your second point, what do the other people have to do with this? I am talking about the people who came from the CW and are on this show, not the ones who went somewhere else. But since you brought up Whedon, do you think he changes his style to fit the project or continues to write in his style? When you see something he wrote can you tell he wrote it? When you see the characters banter back and forth does it feel like Whedon? I would say yes, and that is why I can see the CW in this show. Because these writers and a producer have a formula they learned and keep doing it, just on a new project.

Toy Story wasn't like Buffy.

Beth Schwartz wrote and was EP on Arrow. Now she writes and is EP on Sweet Tooth. Is that a CW show?

Greys Anatomy did a musical. Is that a CW show?

Henry Alonso Myers wrote 20 charmed s7 episodes. Does SNW feel like a Charmed show, especially s7 where the quality was LOW.

Davy Perez wrote over 50 Supernatural episodes. I don't feel like im watching Sam/Dean.

Akiva Goldsman was EP on Titans...which was a mess. He's now ep on SNW, far from a mess.
