Star Wars Eclipse

Oh god, just realized they are using the Neimodians, which even back in 1997 were called out as racist (though somewhat paled to the JarJar issues).

I will enjoy never touching this garbage game, from this garbage company. The only people who should be happy about this, is those incels who decided women didn't belong in Star Wars. Because this company has similar feelings about women in general. I'm legit embarrassed Star Wars has teamed with such a terrible company.

On the plus side, it will be crap so nothing lost.

I knew absolutely zero about this company when I posted this. But now I know and wish I hadn’t posted it. Hope you guys don’t think I support this kinda stuff. I honestly had no idea about any of it until reading up on it. Should I just delete the thread?

Still have threads about ActiBliz, Riot, and Ubisoft games. And I guarantee you a lot of other companies are just as bad.

Second hand games are a bit of a get out of jail free card for those walking an ethical tightrope buying anything. Helps a lot when 90% of the industry is terrible. I remember being briefly happy that Star Wars was out of EA's greedy clutches, then the first new collaborators are this and that upcoming Ubisoft game.

Didn’t know all this. It’s depressing that an industry I love has so many ****s working in it. Can’t the decent people that care about their staff and people in general get to the top more often? :csad::csad:

Not sure what the best thing to do is when you hear things like this. If it was just one or two devs it would be easy to not buy/play their games.

It really makes me sad to see this game surrounded in controversy. Quantic Dream's made games I've enjoyed and yet people are dog-pilling on them and Eclipse due to David Cage being a ****head.

Let me ask this: would at least booting Cage from the company help? I really don't want a promising game like this to be boycotted.

If it does get effectively boycotted then it would make a significant difference I think and dev owners/bosses wouldn’t feel so invincible and like they can do whatever they like. There will be more promising Star Wars games. Of course booting him from the company would at least help although the issues might be more deep rooted from the structures he’s put in place and example he’s set on what’s acceptable.

Would Quantic Dream even make sense as a company without David Cage? Its basically an auteur shop with him as the auteur, as I understand it.

And yet Eclipse sounds like it could be cool! I really feel like I'm stuck here and it's not fair!

Quantic Dream's is David Cage. They sell it has his auteur studio. One of the big issues is a lot of people there take after him in terms of the bigotry and harassment. The whole place is toxic and dangerous for both those that work there and those outsiders who come in. See the Elliot Page situation. At the very least with places like Activision Blizzard and Ubisoft, you see the workers revolt, the push back for accountability. There has been a little. Not enough, but the effort to make it happen is there. Nothing like that with Quantic Dream.

They picked a terrible studio, that makes terrible games. They could have done so much better.

We have been shown exactly 0 about the game. I think Cyberpunk should have everyone not taking the developers word at what the game is like 5 years before it comes out. CG trailers have long since worn out their welcome, so while they can be cool, no one should be influenced by them anymore.

As for the rest of the anger, what should the response be toward giving one of the most queer friendly eras of Star Wars to a guy whose quoted to have said "I don't make games for [homophobic slur]". I love the High Republic. I am enjoying it more than Mando and Bad Batch. And I can tell you right now, everything I've seen from David Cage indicates he is not right for this project. This is literally letting Karen Traviss write Luke Skywalker all over again.

Fair enough. For the record, I'm not defending David Cage AT ALL. Dude's a problem. Just want to be clear.

Honestly, I do believe QD can still be a unique company without Cage at the helm. They just need a leader who's not a disgusting jerk. And as for the backlash against no-gameplay/pre-renderes trailers, bear in mind Detroit was announced with one in 2014. The game came out in 2018 and it was fine. Troubled games like Cyberpunk 2077 do not make this a rule.

I wonder if Disney is already regretting making a deal with Quantic Dream. I mean, sure, game development takes a while, but if they are *saying* "5 years or more" right now, that means we are almost certainly going to be looking at "Or more" by the end. Possibly a lot more.
