Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

I just read that this game has a "create a lightsaber" feature, is this true? Does the feature only go to color, or perhaps, creating a whole new lightsaber all together?

Alot of complaints, i dont understand, is there a better Star wars Jedi/Sith game out there people are comparing this to? I really enjoy it, I'm just trying to understand why so many people are down on it. Was this supposed to be some Uber-game or something?

Action wise, (with the demo at least) there isn't really a comparable Star Wars game. But the melee is a more rigid and restrictive version of God of War, and the force elements play like a watered down version of the two PS2 telekenesis games.

Its an extremely basic game dolled up with a Star Wars skin, and an incredibly overrated and over-marketed next gen ragdoll physics engine.

Admittedly I haven't played the full game, but I won't be buying it after the amazingly average demo. I feel almost insulted after initially looking forward to it.

I completley agree with you A.J, its just an average game covered in a star wars skin. With that coupled with the awful story, makes it one I wont but may rent, if only due to my love of Star Wars. Damn you GL!

And yeah, theres no other star wars games that are like this one. But for better lightsaber combat and use of Force Powers, you cant beat Jedi Outcast

KOTOR man

By lookin at some of these posts it seems TFU is suffering from Spider-Man 2: Movie game syndrome.

Kotor: TSL wasnt as good as the first one. But i thought it was great.

Do we know if backwards compatibility XBOX 1 games will have the install to hard drive option this fall ?

I think the story will be fine. Just push aside your Star Wars uber geekness for a bit.

As for saber battles and force powers, im sorry Jedi Outcast is not the game to go to. The saber combat in that is on the poor side. Dont get me wrong, LOVED the game, infact iv been playing it recently but it feels as if you have NO control over the saber. I mean i do love the fact that it actually acts like a lightsaber but fighting other jedi just isnt as fun as it could be. Maybe if they had added a block feature rather than an "auto-block" it could have been better. I felt it was wayyy too rigid.

The best Star Wars game is hands down Knights of the Old Republic, however thats vastly different than whats found in TFU. Being ones an epic RPG and another is just action/hack n slash, you cant compare the two.

The combat in this reminds me of BF 2. On that game you could double jump like in this, you could force push and pull, use force lightning, saber throws, etc. Most of the LS combat was just spamming one button tho. Whereas with this game you have a few combos.

I still think ppl hyped this game up too much tho. When I first saw the gameplay videos I thought the force powers would look great, the ability to pull down Tie Fighters, drag Storm Troopers over to others and they grab onto eachother, it's exactly like the videos and nothing changed. However reading some of the comments I see a lot of ppl thought it was supposed quintessential Star Wars game. I never raised my expectations past it being a platformer with stunning force powers, which is probably why I'm not dissapointed.

Honestly, I didn't care for a single SW game until the N64 one. Only have cared about KOTOR, and Battlefront 2 since. IMO most SW games are hit or miss (70% of the time a miss), so I rarely get hyped up for one.

Its hard for me to push aside my uber geekness, its too powerful :woot:

The saber combat in JO can be a bit hit and miss and the lack of a block button is a pain, but I love it! Mainly for the fact , like you said, that the lightsaber behaves and acts like a lightsaber. The fact that the lightsaber in TFU demo acts like a stick insted of a sword let alone a lightsaber is just annoying. But I can see why people would prefer TFUs combat mechanics over previous lightsaber games, as its easier to land hits and do amazing moves without doing too much.

And yep, the best Star Wars game is def KOTOR, cant beat it :cwink:

Go back and play GTA IV and tell me Euphoria is overrated.

Decent point, however:

Although implemented in a much superior way in the decent GTA IV, it wasn't the major selling point was it?

With this game though, they ****e it out on EVERY SINGLE video or preview. Look, look Euphoria!!!!!!! (They also did this with the defunct Indy game) What about the actual game though?

Not only that but, possibly due to the overwhelming canon fodder, it looks on screen like super ragdoll physics time. The so called "limitless recoil options" come in three varieties:

- The spazz animation were limbs are flailing all over the shop in a distracting manner. Think along the lines of the SOS signal from the Team America pyramid car chase.

- The contortionist, were limbs bend and twist in an also distracting, inevitably ending up in the fetal position.

- The ankle grab. You lift a Stormtrooper up and his mate jumps in to bring him down and grabs his ankle. They both waggle around like pigs in jelly.

Now when a Stormtrooper hits a barrier and is bent backwards over it THATs impressive, as are othe certain environmental based elemets. But make no mistake, this is next-gen's ragdoll.

KotOR love makes me happy.

As far I'm concerned It's:

1. KotOR
2. Jedi Outcast
3. Battlefront II
4. Galactic Battlegrounds (I freakin miss that game.)

What, no love for Jedi Power Battles? That game was the ****.
