Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

This game would have been better at $39.99 for next gen. But at least the PS2 & Wii versions get their moneys worth with being able to play the game as so many different characters :o

I'm not concerned about game length as I will more than likely play through it more than once and with the different difficulty settings and the broad range of costumes available, as well as the different endings, I think that makes up for the shortness in game time.

Question for those who have it - once you finish the game can you choose a different difficulty and start the game again with Starkiller fully powered up and all the costumes available??

No way I'm paying full price for a short ass game of this length. Not worth it...I hate the trend of stupidly short games being released last few years.

Agreed. I remember back in the SNES days, you'd pay $50 for a game and it'd last you a month! Nowadays, $60 gets you a weekend at best in many cases. Videogame value has been plummeting this generation, even with online multiplayer becoming mainstream. :(

I just rescued Bail Organa. The game is really fun so far. Right now I'm playing it on the Wii (complete **** graphics but the controls are so much fun) and I've played it a little on the 360 (awesome graphics but the controls are annoying).

Yeah, this game is a rent. I don't care how fun a game seems to be, it is still 60 bucks. You realize it is a waste of money after you become less excited and the fanboyism goes away. Give it a week to a month maximum, and then you realize you should have just rented it.

I disagree with that completely. This is a terrific game and its worth adding to your collection. Its an essential part of the Star Wars lore. I dont know how many times iv gone back to watch the movies, play some of the games and now that i have this game, I'm sure ill be returning to it many times.

People keep saying how this game is short, yet its no shorter than other games thats been released that have been highly regarded by fans and the industry in general(ie Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, which by the way is one of the best games this gen).

I beat this game in a little over 8 hours, but i failed to collect at least 5 holocrons on each level and failed to do some of the bonus objectives. I think some of the reason people are running through it so fast is because of the fantastic story. Once you start the game, you just dont wanna stop and ya really want to find out what happens next.

How do you mean? I thought the force powers were handled very well. I'm able to use them realtively easy with my gamepad, I can upgrade the ones I like more, my energy level automatically replenishes and the effects are stunning both visually and regarding gameplay. I really don't know how they could have improved.

To me it seems like when you are trying to throw someone into another person, it never works exactly as planned, I also dont like the camera as well, Its not a bad game in any way, just needed a little more work. Just my opinion tho, hate it or love it

Yea, you can. Just load up your last game, or hit continue and youll start off at the Tie Fighter Construction Facility with the same character you finished the previous game with. You can go into the settings and increase the difficulty.

Im excited for this game and i don't know what everyone is complaining about I played the Demo and found the Force powers a synch to handle, is the gameplay similar to the 360 demo at all? Or just a tad bit i think, finished, is the word im looking for?

Yea the gameplay is like it was in the demo, altho towards the end of the game you have more combos ur powers are stronger.

I rarely had problems with the force powers. Every now and then id throw something at an enemy and it wouldnt go in the direction i wanted it to, but 9 times outta 10, it landed where i intended it to.

I was really shocked at how fun the final game was. I mean i had fun with the demo, but the final game was just a blast. I loved the locations and enemies. Really a fun, fun game.

I just beat it completely (as in, finished both endings of the game).

One of the best parts of the game had to be the Darth Maul cameo. And damn, was that final Vader battle something. He got royally f***ed up, didn't he? The following battle was awesome too. The Palpatine fight was easier, but the ending for the dark choice was insanely haunting. I take it there won't be a sequel since the apprentice died.

I just finished the game and all I have to say is wow. This game was incredible and I enjoyed the hell out of it. I hope at some point in the future this story is adapted theatrically or in the future live-action TV show. It took me nine hours (in reality three days) and I collected 112 of the Holocrons, so I am definitely going to go back and try and collect them all. Now here's my biggest question.

Obviously after you fought Vader and totally ****ed him up, you had the choice to either kill Vader or listen to Kota and fight the Emperor. I went with Emperor and proceeded with that ending. Now what happens when you choice to kill Vader? What's that ending? Also, I thought it was sad with Proxy died. :csad:

It sounds like this game is pretty much a must-have for Star Wars fans. Game Critics pointed out some of its problems, but they don't sound like they're big enough from stopping a Star Wars nut like me from enjoying it (I mean, I've already played through the demo about 10 times LOL). I just wish it had more value-- specifically, a longer campaign. :(

I'm not sure when I'll be able to get this game, but if I don't get it by Christmas it's definitely gonna be on my list.

Yea, i feel its a must own for Star Wars fans due to the importance of the story. Once you play through the game, youll understand. It was such a GREAT story.

I haven't tried the second ending, but apparently you take the side of the Emperor and pretty much rule the galaxy along side him. Its definitely NOT the cannon ending which is why i wouldn't think twice of choosing that one over the other, but you do unlock a pretty bad ass costume.

As for PROXY, he didn't die. He was recovered and actually was then told, by Galen(aka Starkiller) to look over Juno shortly before he went to confront Vader and the Emperor on the Death Star.

I thought the story was just fantastic. I mean to know that Galen Marek was what truly inspired the Rebellion agaisnt the Empire was awesome, and to know that the Marek family crest was used as the Rebel Alliance's symbol was great. I mean hes a really, really big part of this universe.

As for this being adapted to live action, i think its possible. Sam Witwer, the actor who portratyed Galen Marek(aka the Apprentice) has expressed intrest in reprising that role for the live action TV show.

This has been a fun game...nearly done but it is getting a bit repetitive with the waves of enemy classes:o The thing this game needed is a great multiplayer. How fun would it be to go against say 3 other people at the Tie Fighter facility and use force powers? Other than that, the boss fight animatics are great.

I see what you mean. Sometimes it can be frustrating especially when you're trying to use your force powers in a firefight and if you get hit by one stray blast you're screwed.

All in all I think they did a good job considering but you're right it could've used a little more work.

I agree with you here, however keep in mind of how much additional work is going into a "next gen" game as compared to a SNES game. I think that based on the higher production values with most games that come out now and the improved technology the $60 price tag isn't all that high.

Although most of that additional cost comes from the fact that after we get finished with our games we trade them in making game stores money but not making the devs any more money. Each "Re-sale" doesn't count as a sale for the devs and they really don't see any of that money. That attributes to higher costs. In the future when games are only downloaded and played instead of purchased at stores I think you'll find a significant overall price drop.

Yeah, this game is a rent. I don't care how fun a game seems to be, it is still 60 bucks. You realize it is a waste of money after you become less excited and the fanboyism goes away. Give it a week to a month maximum, and then you realize you should have just rented it.

No offense but that seems kind of lame. If the game is $60 worth of fun does it really matter whether it lasts a long time? I would much rather play a game that's really really fun for a weekend or a week than play a 60 + hour game that isn't fun.

I think with SW:TFU you get what you pay for. You might not get it in the amount of time you play but you definitely get it in the amount of fun you have.

I do see both of your points though, money doesn't grow on trees and most people can't afford to pick up every game that they kinda want. If you're only able to get one game every month or even every other month you might want to drop your dime on Too Human, it's not as much fun as Force Unleashed but it'll probably play longer.

After playing it for 5 hours today (have just "rescued" Juno), i can honestly say Im really enjoying it. Ive still got a lot of beef with it but taking it for what it is, its a fun ride! Loving the Holocron collecting and the saber/costume touch ups too :)

Whats ur "beef" with the game. Dont tell me its something lame like "well iv never heard of Vader taking an apprentice before" or "the force power are too over the top".

This game sucks:

The terrible camera in the game only gets WORSE. The targeting system is barely functional, the combat is stiff, repetitive and just uninspired. The force grip works well when you can actually get your targeting system to work properly, what should have been the best sequence in the game is one long tedious EPIC FAIL. The AI is pants on head ******ed and the boss fights are a joke due to bad camera and poor control. and to top it all off, the game has piss poor collision detection and bugs up the ass. Most of whats wrong with this game should have been never made it past QA. How this game even made it to store shelves in its current state boggles my mind. This game started off great, but gets progressively worse as it goes, by the end of game its almost as if the dev team honestly stopped caring. On the imperial Falucia mission, I randomly FELL THROUGH THE LEVEL, WTF is that? In the belly of the Sarlac sequence I got knocked through a wall into a black abyss of nothing where my character model completely fell apart and the game froze. I had to start boss fights over because the boss would randomly freeze up and not take any damage so I was forced to load and restart the fight entirely. Not to mention the game is ****ing short, a whopping SIX HOURS, most gamers could finish it in a single sitting.

If you want a good Force Unleashed experience I recommend this:

and a copy of Psi-Ops for PS2.

I found the targeting system to be fine, maybe you just have piss poor eye hand coordination?
