I actually like the idea of longer breaks in between seasons. Always found it a bit jarring when a new season would start like a week after the last.

Agreed. This month felt like it passed by quickly.

Taking a week off doesn't make any sense. You can already do that and still keep your characters. Might as well not split into seasons.
