One thing about stargate i like though is the fact that they always come up with cool new baddies. So far the Wraith have been here too long and they are not really that interesting culturaly. Come eat humans go its alittle boring. And there no point having them get to the milkyway anymore. Seriously one human ships kicks there ass so they not going to do well against All thats in the Milkyway gal. Asgard protected worlds, Jaffa Armada. Still probably one or two powerful gould fleets knocking about. And loads of others. The Wraith would get there asses kicked.

Think its time Atlantis Started finding more interesting tech in the city. If the achients were studying Acension they must have been studying loads of other high level stuff as well.

Oh man I soooooooo HATE the Show Creators now :down This new episode was AWESOME for SG1. Who would have thought Anubis's Son would be BETTER then Anubis :p This guy would have made a GREAT Bad guy. But hey now we got a little "Taste" of the REAL Power of the Ori. After this episode I expect them to become somewhat Bad A$$e$ But damn what a SHAME the way this episode ended after such a great Build Up :down

What about Galactica!?
I know this is the Stargate thread, but they're both on the same day so...

This is good for me because here in the UK we usually take over the US with the second half of the Stargate season

"Prototype" was awesome all the way through. I loved Daniel's "new guy!" line. Lam was cool in the episode, too, especially in the cut-aways to her being uncomfortable while the others were all discussing the idea of murdering Khalek without any compassion whatsoever. Daniel was surprisingly cold in this episode, almost at Jack's level when dealing with Goa'ulds. I suppose it makes sense, though, considering he knew the most about Anubis and what kind of threat he posed to the entire galaxy.

"The Fourth Horseman" was good, too. Not as good as "Prototype," but still good. I was happy to see Bra'tac again but also a bit disappointed that all Hammond got to do was give a speech and almost get infected with the Ori plague. I wasn't quite sure how a cover-up of something as huge as a plague would go down, but it actually made sense in the episode. An outbreak of alien disease is pretty easy to cover up if you hide it behind a major outbreak of some terrestrial disease. That kind of thing has happened before and everyone's aware of how dangerous and unpredictable viruses can be. Much better cover-up than a "gas explosion" for that building's mysterious disappearance in "Ex Deus Machina," at any rate. I also liked Lam's "You wanted to be a general" line to Landry. It was a nice follow-up to Landry's "You wanted to be a doctor" line in "The Powers That Be," and it helped establish that a bond is re-forming between the two of them.

And hey, how about Mitchell's badassery? Between "Babylon," "Prototype," and this episode, we've now established what he's good at: Daniel's the humanities genius, Carter's the science genius, Teal'c's the Goa'uld/alien stuff expert, and Mitchell is apparently the big action hero.

Alas, now we've gotta wait like 3 months for new eps, which sucks. I guess I'll have to just continue buying the DVDs to get my Stargate fix between now and then.

Im still not sold on Mitchell, for one he ran like a cripple in Prototype!

Im just glad Daniel had a part in taking Anubis' son down, it wouldnt have felt right just Mitchell doing it considering Daniels history with Anubis

He had a freakin' concussion! I doubt many people would've even been able to stand properly after getting slammed into a wall and then falling 10 feet or so onto the ground.

It was cool to see General Hammond  in Sg1 Episode 10

So lets see how this 2 Parter for SG1 will end

The Iron Eagle dude will DIE by Tealcs hand using the new Weapon Carter makes

The Ancient Kid will come up with the cure then die

Daniel & Mitchell will Convince that one Planet they are on that the Ori SUCK

Another sucky Cameo by Hammond maybe

& all will be well in the world

You know it is kind of Interesting Actually the way they are going with Both shows

We got Atlantis meeting a bunch of Ancients & they can finally Defeat The Wraith

In SG1 we got all out Attacks from The Ori on Earth & soon a way to get them Powerless & Combine that with Atlantis meeting a bunch of Ancients

Hey does anyone know how long Sg1 will be around ? I know there will always be a SGC for as long as Atlantis is running but who knows. I think it is weird that NOW during THIS time they are going to actually meet Ancients. The Humans do what The Ancients couldnt & find a way to defeat The Wraith & tada they magically Show Up. Makes you wonder what the show Creators have in mind.

I made an official thread for it

Prototype was a great episode. I don't have much to say about it. Other than well done. Very well excecuted, and written episode. It tied Anubis, the goauld, the ori, and the SGC all into one big narrative. Moreover, it also tied in the civilian authority with Woolsey. The tok'ra were mentioned as well. I'm very content with the epi, and hope that the quality of this epi becomes the norm for the 'new sG1'

^ I liked the actor who played the Son of Anubis. He's a hottie and had the whole "evil look" down pat. It was nice to see Daniel evolve as a character. It seemed strange to me to have him preach for killing Calec, without even speaking to the guy first, but I let that slide after watching the end of the show. He's just changing as a character.
That being said, I so hate Earth officials. It's like... when SGC wants to study, they want to kill. When SGC wants to kill, they want to study.
ARGH!

Yeah, I think the biggest highlight of this episode was the development of Daniel's character. No good character can remain totally constant, and I think the maturation of Daniel's character from the naive, for lack of a better term, "bleeding heart" who only wanted to spread good throughout the galaxy without harming anyone into a more hardline character who understands that sometimes there is no other way than someone's death. His actions with the Ori and the Priors, arguing his case time and again in the earlier episodes, show that this new side is still tempered by a genuine desire for peace and harmony on all sides, but he's clearly willing to consider more drastic measures in less time now.

One question, though... who has Daniel killed over the years? I know there must've been a few Jaffa fodder that he offed here and there, but was there anyone important that he killed?

Oh, and I kept calling Khalek "Dr. Neil Jackson" every time he was on screen. I can't help it... that last name just triggers it in my head. :(

He nearly killed all the Goa'uld system lords at their meeting.

I really enjoyed the development of Daniels character aswell, id love for this season to focus on him more. Showing his feelings towards whats happening seeing as he was ascended. Thats why I thought it was necessary he be one of the ones taking down Khalek because of his rivalry with Anubis.

Should have seen me watching it, I was getting annoyed at Mitchell being the one taking the shots at Khalek until they panned over to Daniel. :p

Yeah, season 5. That was the first bit of the less-innocent Daniel that we saw. "Prototype" felt like a natural follow-up to that. Still, I was wondering if there was any specific instance where Daniel actually killed someone himself. The closest I can think of is his one-on-one showdown with Anubis, where he clearly seemed to be ready and willing to kill him.

Yeah I couldnt think of any big instances, just the Jaffa he will have shot and replicators but they dont count :P

Yeah, he was most badass against the Replicators. There was a scene in one episode where he, Jack, and Sam systematically work their way down a hallway while covering each other and I remember being impressed that Daniel could kick so much ass with a P90. :)

Oh yeah I remember watching that episode with the commentary on and the director was pointing out how good MS had got with a P90

I've been noticing slight changes in Daniel's character aswell. And what it is is this: Especially last weeks epi (prior to the newest). Daniel had assumed some of the sarcasm that Jack provided. As a close friend of Jack's for 8+ years, Jack seems to have rubbed off on him. Moreover, I feel like Daniel is compensating for Jack's abscence at the SGC. Daniel is not only representing the moral side of the SGmission, but he is now also representing the emotional truth, for which jack used to stand for.

I think it's a great adaption for Daniel, and also an understandable one. Jack's influence over the SGC was invaluable, and perhaps Daniel recognizes this, and is trying to continue and keep those values alive at the SGC.

why is this season soo short?

how short is it?

I'd assume (kind of like last season) that the SG1, and SGA budgets are somehow linked. And that both have shorter seasons because of it

We know theres at least 20 episodes in season 9 so its not that short. Its just taking that stupid 4 month break at the moment. Good thing for me is that in just over 2 months Sky One should have overtaken the US in the eps its shown coz we dont have a break

Yeah, I don't know why Sci Fi has been promoting last week's SG-1 eps and this week's SGA eps as the "season finales." They're the mid-season finales, meaning that this is the halfway point. The remainder of SG-1 S9 and SGA S2's episodes will be shown starting in January.

The seasons were cut down from 22 episodes to 20 in season 8 of SG-1 and season 1 of SGA due to budgetary constraints. Sci Fi's put up a lot of money for the Stargate series, but my guess is that those 2 episodes had to be cut from each season because they're now funding 2 shows with pretty big budgets. I doubt they could've afforded full, 22-episode seasons for both SG-1 and SGA. Still, 2 episodes isn't too bad.

Happenstance, when does Sky One start airing SG-1 season 9? I gotta start nosing around online when it starts to find the new opening credits. We get them back after the mid-season hiatus in January, but I can't wait that long. :o

The start of October Sky One starts airing it, i'll be watching them all again anyway so i'll post after each ep airs then i'll write reviews of the eps in spoiler tags for ppl who wanna know about the new eps.
