Well, Jack was still entertaining with his one-liners, even if he couldn't really lead in the field. Carter's never been a particularly entertaining conversationalist in either show, so she doesn't even have that going for herself.

Plus, be honest, do you really prefer Beau Bridges as commander over whatever small involvement from Jack we could still get while he was in command?

I enjoyed the sixth season, actually. I wish Jonas had stuck around or come back for seasons 9 and 10, in retrospect. Far, far better than Mitchell and Vala put together.

yeah, Jonas would have been a far better (and more logical) addition to the team. But politics interferes, with Sci Fi apparently owing browder and black for cancelling their show (that's how I read it atleast)

in retrospect, I would have prefered if they had axed SG1 where it was (at the lost city episodes), and continued on with farscape (and giving semi regular roles on farscape to x-gaters). Visa Versa basically.

I didn't see it as a move from Sci Fi to appease Browder and Black for Farscape. They already did that with The Peacekeeper Wars (one of the best finales anyone could ask for, no less).

But I definitely agree, I would've preferred more Farscape over more SG-1. Farscape was so good. And, looking back on it, I think Farscape's cancelation was the beginning of Sci Fi's current trend toward sucking at everything.

I think SG-1 lost it's touch after season 7. After that it became something of a parody and I even noticed Daniel acting like Jack(see Arthur's Mantle")

Yeah, that annoyed me more than anything else in seasons 9 and 10. Daniel completely abandoned the pacifist nature he had in earlier seasons and became basically Jack Jr.

Teal'c vs. Ronan was alright. The epi was really good, and some cool stuff happened therein.

I really only have on comment about the episode: as much as I love machine guns a blazin... there was far too much of it as soon as the action started. When the 'rents tell you to turn the tv off because there is far too much shooting going on... it's a sign.

Again, this was finally a decent episode... but too much shooting going on.


Loved how they brought Cavanaugh back for a short cameo, I actually like the character... he's so annoying, that's it's fun when he get threatened.

And who doesn't love Bill? of all the oldschool secondary characters from the Gate universe, I think Dr. Lee is my favorite. Better than Sylar and Sgt. Walter Harriman combined. It all goes back to that episode where Carter was sent to seduce him by pretending to be interested in world of warcraft.

Yeah, that was a surprisingly good episode. I didn't have a problem with the shooting so much as I did with the fact that neither Teal'c nor Ronon ever sought cover. Remember when the Stargate series could be lauded for its realistic tactics and compliance with real USAF standards because of their Air Force advisors? Yeah, that's completely gone and it makes me a bit sad. I also kind of wish Rodney (and Daniel, but we don't see him) could go back to his sidearm and stick to science stuff. Every time I see him with a P90, I think of the words "combat scientist," and those are words that shouldn't go together in my brain.

But aside from the lapse in realism--which, in fairness, stretches way back to around season 7 or 8 of SG-1--the episode was quite good. As soon as the Wraith dialed the Midway gate, I was like, "Teal'c and Ronon are gonna be dual John McClanes." And they were. And it was awesome.

One thing I didn't quite understand was why Coolidge so readily accepted Ronon after Ronon basically spat in his face during the Wraith incursion. From everything we heard throughout the episode, Coolidge is a petty, chauvinistic dickwad. Why would he have the humility to admit that Ronon turned out to be right after Ronon told him off, and why would he accept Ronon as a perfect candidate for the team after Ronon displayed blatant insubordination? That didn't really add up to me.

Oh, and Teal'c's hair is actually pretty cool. The white streak looks quite good when he's got long hair, as opposed to the funky, nappy 'do he had at the end of SG-1. He reminded me of the Bride of Frankenstein then.

Has atlantis been picked up for a 5th season?Oh yea and a while back someone on this site told me that they were devoloping a 3rd stargate show, is that true?

I believe Atlantis has been picked up for its fifth season already. I know they've already got a lot of plans for the fifth season and they've started lining up actors for guest appearances and such, so it stands to reason they've already been picked up.

The creators of the Stargate TV series are indeed creating a third series now. It's called Stargate Universe and it's supposed to center on a ship combing the universe for Ancient artifacts. I don't think we've gotten many details beyond that at this point.

I knew once I saw the starships introduced in the series years ago, they were gonna base a series off of something like that. Especially when Hammond was given command of that starship a few seasons ago....I wouldn't mind him being in charge of the ship

Ronon basically saved the lives of everyone in that room, not to mention the base, but that's besides the point: Did you not hear what he told T'ealc after his interview?

"I'm exactly the type they want fighting the Wraith." - I think Ronon pretty much displayed his qualifications in that regard.

It seemed like they painted Coolidge out to be a little too small and closed-minded to just let Ronon off the hook for killing a bunch of Wraith and saving them. It keeps coming back to the fact that Ronon rather flamboyantly told his commander to stuff it for me. That's major insubordination.

Oh well, other than Coolidge's quick turn-around, it was a good episode.

they should really just give mitch pillegi, and the guys who run the ships on atlantis the roles on the new series. Pillegi is a solid semi regular, who could carry his own show. And the young second in command guy has been around for a while, and seems pretty solid as a semi on atlantis.

I'd absolutely love Pileggi as the star of the new series. I know who you're talking about with the second-in-command guy. He'd be pretty good as a regular. If they could get Browder back, I wouldn't mind seeing Mitchell as the leader of the field team, especially if he gets to show off some 302 skills, being based on a ship and all.

Remember that SG-1 episode, where the SG trainee disobeyed a direct order from Jack, only to risk his life and attempt to save a fellow trainee who he believed was being killed by radiation?

Ronon didn't disobey Coolidge to save his skin, or something else petty. He disobeyed to risk his own skin, in order to save another, and eventually ended up saving the base.

Besides the fact that the Coolidge types are usually about saving their skin, and I'm sure once it sunk in that Ronon saved his, it had to have some kind of effect.
