I'm excited for Atlantis more than either The Ark of Truth or Continuum, to be honest. It feels like the creators really hit their stride in the back half of season 4, more so than they have since Ronon's introduction in season 2 to me. I'm actually looking forward to the finale tomorrow.

seriously.

As for AOT: Reduce, Reuse, RECYCLED. After viewing again, I'm just not happy with it. This is what they deliver after 10+ years of gating? It's not bad... but it's nowhere near as good as I think it should have be.

Better or worse than "Lost City"?

worse IMO, the whole thing felt phoned in. I think the only truely memorable momment is when Teal'c has a talk with Vala's Husband.

the thing I disliked the most is that 2 of the main characters, were pretty much completely uninvolved with the primary plot of the movie (this has to do with replicators, why they introduced this tangent into the film plot, I don't know, it was not needed, and just wasted time that could have been otherwise spent, having those two characters actually involved in the plot.) It's like they wrote the movie, but then realized that they ommitted two of the main characters. Then when they realized this they went 'hey, we can make them fight replicators!!!' while the rest of the plot goes on as normal. IDIOCY

I think the Carson that was killed and the Carson on ice are both clones...

I thought the season 4 finale for Atlantis was one of the weakest ive seen in the Stargate franchise, yeah some of the flashbacks/forwards might have been a bit cool but apart from that I didnt really care about anything.

diddo, the only really cool thing was Sam's flashback. I think the conceptually, the episode was a good idea, but lack of a climax left the cliffhanger having a totally empty feeling. I think it would have worked better, had the team infiltrated the complex, and Micheal and cargo arrive... and end like that episode of SG1, where we saw the massed army of super drones

Yeah. The last shots could be of the team taking up positions, guns aimed at the entrances. You hear lots of footsteps getting closer (but never see Micheal and the hybrids, just footsteps) as they show the team's faces and the footsteps get louder.

But I admit that the end of this episode did make my jaw drop. I was expecting the classic debris falling scene as it says To Be Continued... Not the whole damn building imploding on them. How the heck are they supposed to survive that?

wow the ending was quick. Go to sleep then off-world activation, kind of anti-climatic.

"Do I still have hair?"

I was waiting for holo mckay to start saying
"Please state the nature of your Pegasus emergency."Rodney's the EMH now.

I always love the standard alternate reality cliche

"everyone dies a horrible death"

"there but for the grace of god"
"2010"

To commerate the season finale

i liked the finale the whole sequence with McKay and Kellar was good and very sad when she popped her clogs at the end....

here's the question, how does micheal (I hate this villain, worst on the show IMO) even manage to take over the galaxy? Where are the replicators?

I like Michael because he is a product of Atlantis' ignorance....the Replicators and the Wraith are at war...

Yeah, it would've been a great cliffhanger if we weren't absolutely certain that all of the main characters would indeed survive. That's the problem with ongoing action series--you have to have conflict and close calls to fill the dramatic quota, but there's never a real sense of danger because you know everyone'll survive. Much as I enjoyed seeing Carson again this season, I kind of wish they'd left him dead. Yeah, he's a clone, but it's functionally the same as just bringing him back from the dead; the explanation's just a bit more palatable.

I like Michael, too. He is a bit overly arch, but he's not much worse than the normal Wraith. I remember thinking they were goofy as hell from way back in Atlantis' premiere. But Michael at least represents something pretty powerful--namely, that the Atlantis expedition's own curiosity, arrogance, and ignorance can come back and bite them in the ass. He's the classic monster of the good guys' own creation. That works well conceptually for me.

Anyway, I'm buying The Ark of Truth today after work. Can't wait to see it, even if the reviews I've read are a bit underwhelming. Buying it and Continuum could potentially lead to more SG-1 down the line, so I'm all for it even if it is disappointing.

can i just say that many places don't get AoT for a week or two yet.

Can those of you that have seen it please spoiler tag any comments after seeign it so we don't get spoiled before we get a chance to see it?

I just finished watching Ark Of Truth overall I thought it was great and I was very pleased with the final conclusion to the Ori story arc .

I'll post my full spoiler review later .

which is currently being reworked since Torri decided NOT to come back for season 5 at all
Yeah, I wonder how they're gonna work that out. Oh well, I'm honestly glad. We already had the ex-teammate-goes-rogue story with Ford in SGA and various other characters in practically every fictional story involving a team or duo ever besides that. I wasn't really looking forward to RepliWeir doing it yet again.

Nice, but they could have used a less generic picture of Landry.
