so Im still a bit fuzzy on the concept...are they all stuck on a ship that has a gate on it??

they are...... but, for a reason i don't know yet..... they can't dial out and return home.

and how did they all get on this ship to start with?? Robert Carlyle and Lou Diamond Phillips better explain this to me

Getting to the ship is still a mystery... mostly.

All i know is that the cast are part of a research base looking into the 9th chevron. They're attacked by something/one (Not yet said who it is that attacks them) and for some reason their only escape is through the gate to where the 9th chevron goes to.

The ship is an automated Ancient ship, as far as I've heard, which is why they can't simply fly it home. Presumably, they can't dial Earth because the ship takes them too far away, but I'm just speculating on that part.

so how did they get on the ship in the first place?? did we find it and start poking around and pushing buttons and all that??

Probably. Isn't that what the people of Earth always do? The Atlantis Expedition got into all kinds of trouble by randomly messing with stuff.

There should be a rule...I would call it the Daniel Jackson Rule....if you haven't seen it before, no ****ing touching it

They do. Only their "sticks" are Mensa members. But the tech out in the universe is so advanced compared to Earth's that they still keep f***ing things up with it.

hmm true...Id watch an action movie with Sheppard and Mitchell....have Sam be the "police captain"

I don't think the ship itself has a gate. It just takes them to planets that have them.

I'm wondering how they work out the timing. Does the ship just randomly land, sit there for a set time, and then take off again? I could see that being really overused as a plot device to force the SGU team to drop whatever they're doing and get back before the ship leaves them.

I think the ship will just stay in orbit, and they will have to beam down or use jumpers. (Unless the ship does have a gate, which thinking back to the first teaser, I think it does now). And I think we can count on people being left behind. At least in the first few episodes.

Well, yeah, but I meant after the cast stabilized. They always throw a few extra people in there to be redshirts in the premiere.

I'm sure they will work it out to eventually be enough time for one mission to be completed. A nice round 45 minutes. :hehe:

And by season 5: "We've gone through the gate many times and had many bad days, but this day blew all the others out of the water. This was really, seriously the worst day of our lives. Seriously."

When does this come on?

And was Sheppherd played by the guy from Farscape? He looks like a good action hero.

SGU starts this fall, I think.

Sheppard was played by Joe Flanigan. Ben Browder, the guy from Farscape, played Cameron Mitchell on Stargate: SG-1.
