Guardians of the Galaxy Starlord's Pops

I think Marvel will stick with the comics and his father will be J'son.

^ They'd have to explain why the Nova Corps on Xandar didn't recognize J'son's race.

ummm... what if the T.A.H.I.T.I alien, was his father (who after Yondu failed to deliver his son, came to earth to find him) only to either have crashed or been attacked, and S.H.I.E.L.D found and hide his body (later to be experimented on)

sorry for the S.H.I.E.L.D spoilers for anyone who isn't caught up on it

Gunn has confirmed Quill's father will not be J,son.

Starfox and Warlock are the most obvious choices. I'm leaning towards Starfox myself.

This will never happen, but Matthew McConaughey as Starfox would be a five-star win for me.

I didn't realize Gunn confirmed in will not be J'Son. I guess Starfox would be the best bet. I think we won't see Warlock until he emerges from his cocoon to help finally defeat Thanos in Avengers 3.

Can I vote more than five stars?

Given Star-Lord's parental abandonment, his "pelvic sorcery" and being not quite 100% a-hole, I'm having trouble imagining Eros not being Peter's dad. Add in the connections to the current cast - Peter's dad, Thanos' bro, Uncle to Gamora and Nebula (and probably Moondragon) - and it would be a lot of fun.

Hmmm.... Gonna go with Adam Warlock.

The OP had some good points, but actually ignored what is so far the most established non-human race in the MCU. Who are no stranger to Earth and its people. Who have a history of being perceived by humans as divine creatures, almost like angels.

Asgardians.

James Gunn has stated it's definitely not J'son, which is a shame.

Warlock gets my vote.

Maybe I need to read up on him more than I already have, but J'son never seemed like a Huge player in the MCU. One that most Marvel fans would know of well. I say replace him with someone bigger and well known, like Warlock.

They way they left it as a cliffhanger at the end of the movie implies that his dad is going to be have a pretty big impact on the storyline when he's revealed. So J'son, I don't think so.

Adam Warlock is a fantastic character, I just don't think he suits being Peter's father. It would be really weird in my opinion.

I don't know the GOTG comics at all , but actors I could see as being Starlord's father would be Harrison Ford, if they're going for a mega name, or Dennis Quaid who's about Michael Rooker's age and was in his 20s or 30s in 1988. Ford would make sense from a marketing perspective and people could believe that Han Solo would be Starlord's father. By the same token, Dennis Quaid fits the description of how Peter's mother described his father and if you look at his roles in Great Balls of Fire, Inner Space, and Big Easy around that period, you could imagine her falling for a bad boy like him.

He already emerged from the Cocoon though as seen after the end credits

I'm hoping it's Red Skull since that would just be really messed up in all the right ways.
