what are your guys opinions on this? i bought and watched the dvd last night for the first time in about 3 years, and i think it a great movie in many ways, just wish dina meyer didnt die, i thought the romantic plot between rico and dizzy was so great

I heard it butchers the book but I haven't gotten around to reading it. I'm a Verhoeven junkie, hell I even liked Showgirls. I dig the movie because it's essentially a cartoon satire using live-action characters. It tells a story about three indiviuals and how war changed them, andi t's effective because it doesn't take itself too seriously but keeps to it's theme and has some real character delelopment. Plus the CGI and battles are awesome, I'll have to boot this up again. I got the 2-Disc SE but I hear the Superbit has a really nice transfer.

Actually no, I love the cheesyness of it, I love cheese. I think it's hilarious, I WANT BE A DANCER! HAHA I PUSH YOU DOWN THE STAIRS!! Then... "YOU DON'T THINK I NEVER PUSHED ANYONE DOWN THE STAIRS" hahaha.

Great movie despite the acting done by the guy who plays Rico. Damn he was horrible.

Yeah that sums it up, I mean the thing is under all the crap there could of possibly been a good story, I mean the idea of an innocent girl wanting to be a dancer and seduced into doing bad things, but the fact that it tottaly ****s on dancing, the nudity, and clich-over the top characters kind of killed all chances of that. Someone should remake it or tell a similar story to it...

Yeah, I get where you are coming from but Nomi Malone was never an innocent girl to begin with.

It was a great movie. To bad it didn't do better than it did at the box office. Paul Verhoeven incorporated co-ed shower scenes with men & women into the movie like he did in Robo-Cop, but then maybe that was how it originally was in the novel, never read it so I wouldn't know, then there was co-ed sports & tons of gore & some comedy thrown in there for good measure, what's not to love about this movie? Never saw the straight to video sequel, probably wasn't a good as the first movie though.

I loved Showgirls simply because you get Jessie from Saved By The Bell Elizabeth Berkley nude.:D

Yeah, I have to wonder were the screen-writers just like exceptionally high not to notice how bad it was...

It directed by the guy who did the special effects for the first one... So essentially when you do that, you usually get awesome SFX but terrible story ala Spawn :(

I hope that they are going to completely ignore Part 2

me too

id like for some of the other cast to comeback to, dina meyer as dizzy even though she died, jake busey, denise richards...

Starship Troopers is great, but I hear the straight to DVD sequel was horrible.

When I turned fifteen, 3 of my best friends and I went to watch ST in the theater on opening weekend. We all loved it, and had a blast with the whole thing. Plus, Dina Myers (Grgrgrgrgrgr!)

I rented it the second ST one time, and just fast-forwarded through the whole thing! Complete waste.

Original - Another camp classic from our favorite over-the-top director, Paul Verhoeven

I really liked it. It wasn't a great movie but a fun popcorn flick isn't suppoused to be great. I haven't seen the second yet.

I really liked it. It was fun. I would say it was a good "popcorn flick," but I utterly despise that prase with a pasion that burns like a million exploding suns.

Anyway, while I liked the film, it kind of weirds me out after I learned that the writer of the book it was based on is a neo nazi, and the bugs were meant to represent the jews. :(

The movie was atrociously horrid. It doesn't even manage to be so bad it's good, it just manages to suck. As did the sequel.

Perhaps you should elaborate on why you didn't like it, then again promoting intelligent arguments here is like trying to stoke a fire that never existed.

Starship Troopers was sort of ******ed. But it had Michael Ironside, lots of shooting and tittties so that's cool.

I caught the so called "sequel" late night on cable. It was absolutely terrible.
