Had its moments, but they clearly relied far too much on gross out gags than the genuine comedy found in Talladega Nights and Anchorman before it.

Watched it earlier today, thought it was pretty funny but I liked Talladega Nights better. What was really funny was seeing my chemistry teacher there watching this too and just knowing throughout the movie what kind of reaction this movie got from him.

I liked it a lot. It's definitely better than Semi-pro, and I would put it up there with Talladega nights, which I think is the funniest WF film, and, it has a lot to do with Reilly. It's mainly because Ferrell and Reilly play so well off each other, and Reilly just sells every expression. It did feel a little long by the time we get to the part where they are cleaning up their act and getting real jobs, but the last act with the ****ing Catalina Wine Mixer was great. It's definitely not a stretch for any of the actors to play these roles, but they're so good at the improvisation and physical confrontations that it hasn't gotten old yet.

haha, see it was like the opposite for me, i kinda wanted to see X-Files, and saw Step-Brothers instead, and then i heard that X-Files was terrible too. but i dunno, the reviews do seem to be pretty 50-50 so maybe you'll like it. for me i just thought the jokes were getting a little old about half-way through. i mean, one of the lines is "Holy F**king F**k." and i was just like "really?", it just got kinda tired.

This was one of the first movies in a while that almost had me on the verge of crying cause i was laughing so much.

god... i don't remember laughing so hard at a movie in a loooooooong time. forgetting sarah marshall is definitely the better movie, but this one made me laugh much, much more.

and that's how i judge a comedy, by how much i enjoy it, not on its technical accomplishments.

i gave this a 9/10. easily one of the top tier will ferrell movies out there. i don't know if i liked this more than talledega nights or anchorman, it's hard to say, because i've seen those movie so many times now, i know all the jokes by heart. i guess only time will tell which is better.

I agree on both things that you said. My face was starting to hurt from all the laughing i was doing.
