Steve Jobs has died

i'm still trying to wrap my head around why the morons at that church are going to protest

yeah i know in the past they've never had any valid reasons or even functioning brain cells but this is so random

It's because there will be lots of media and that's what they crave and want is attention to themselves and their church. I am pretty sure there is a deadly sin in there somewhere.

Well, they actually picketed funeral services of solders who died for their country in the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, so basically those people have no morals and no shame.

Not to lessen the guy's success, but i've wondered how all the designers, engineers, project directors, etc who've worked their asses off to invent these products feel about one man taking all the credit.

Jobs actually left Apple in 1984-85 and didn't return until 1996, after Apple purchased his company NeXT. During that decade, Apple had no spectacular products, and it was Jobs who helped started the streak of success with iTunes, iPod, iPhone, and iPad. Yes, Jobs had people working for him, but without his guidance Apple won't have become the juggernaut that it is today. Crediting those engineers and designers would be akin to crediting the assistant coaches and trainers at New England Patriots for all the Superbowl successes instead of Bill Belichick.

I read online that Jobs didn't get surgery/chemo right away after he was diagnosed and opted for dieting.
Yeah. He was a hippie, for sure. :funny: But I think his wife talked to the best pancreatic doctor in the world and they eventually talked him into getting the surgery.

Apparently he didn't even get chemo, since supposedly the cancer could be cured with just surgery. But again, it's never far away....

I know people who worked their asses off for him, and they worship at his feet. It might be a requirement to work at the company. :o

But seriously, he was like a director, he pushed all those people to be multiple times better than they would have been without him. So they appreciate that.

I read maybe here that the Westboro group know exactly what they're doing - they live on the funds they get when they sue others when someone tries to assault them at one of their pickets. :o If you look at how they operate, they never personally ostracize the people they're picketing, just really general stuff. But stuff they know will get a rise out of people.

Really bad analogy.

Crediting the engineers and designers would be akin to crediting the PLAYERS for the teams super bowl success.

^^^ And again, I'm not trying to discredit Jobs' influence and the fact that he lead Apple into becoming the company that it is today. But the best CEO in the world wouldn't be much without the employees who actually created and invented the products. I think people give him too much credit in that regard - when it comes to the actual blood sweat and tears given to design and create Apple's products.

The guy who actually created the designs is very well-known - Jonathan Ive. You can find articles about him.

Everyone else is apparently a mere minion. :o Steve Jobs tells them what to do and they do it. The person I know who actually worked in Apple HQ was an electrical engineer on a summer internship. There it's really an entire team of people making things happen, not a few star engineers or designers.

Lol.

I'm aware that its an entire team - But that's exactly my point: people treat Jobs like the messiah of technology; like he single-handedly invented/designed/produced these Apple products; when in reality, it was a whole team of people doing the work that people give Jobs the credit for. I think people need to be a little more realistic in terms of giving Jobs deserved credit.

Typing this from an Airbook at the Apple Store downtown Chicago right now. They have a massive memorial in the front window with flowers, teddy bears and candles and a bunch of post-its with thank you notes to Jobs.

Speaking as a pastor who has studied the Bible my whole life and have a bachelor and masters degree in religious studies, I'd like to point out they're following Jesus' teachings about as well as the Punisher is following Ghandi's.

More on topic: I should also mention I'm typing this from my MacBook with my iPhone next to me :). No one can reasonably deny Jobs' incredible accomplishments.

There is no such thing as an Airbook.

He's innovating from beyond the graaaaaave!

Steve Jobs said:
"Can anyone tell me what MobileMe is supposed to do?" Having received a satisfactory answer, he continued, "So why the **** doesn't it do that?"

This made me lol. I remember there being a ticker to the left with a time line of issues going on with MobileMe in its infancy, hell it was acting a little funky a few days ago.
