Man i can not wait for this experience, Is this film even legal the amount of copyrighted cars, characters must of been so so costly.

It's nice to see all those cameos, but I just don't know.

Yea what's the budget on This? Must've cost millions just to get the rights for all these characters and vehicles etc.

I swore a saw a Battletoad.

They should have just called this "Nerdfest: The Movie". :funny:

I love the book and the movie looks like it pulls even more nostalgia from everywhere. I'm incredibly excited for this movie. And I do think that might be a Battletoad.

Spielberg's been exec producer on a fair few of them so I would have thought the costs were 'less' than they could have been.

Spielberg is also one of the few director/producers that could acquire all of those rights with ease.

It’s also not the first time he’s done something like this. On Roger Rabbit he managed to get all the major animation studios to licence their characters, except Hanna Barbara.

Actually this movie looks pretty interesting, which I'm kind of surprised to be saying. I clicked on the trailer expecting it to be another special-effects cartoon with Valerian-level CGI and endless nostalgic references. Turns out...that's sort of what it is, but it actually works here because of the context. The CGI is a bit under-textured and fake looking, but it makes since sense it's a video game word. I may check this out at some point.

Looks fun. Definitely going to take multiple viewings to catch all the cameos.

This looks great. Really pleased to see it's focused on the actual story.

Holy moly, was too caught off by the awesomeness of Kaneda's bike to notice freakin' the RX-78 Gundam itself!! Welcome to Hollywood, Gundam!

It looks more epic than in my head while I was reading the book.

I'm surprised that they deliberately made the Oasis scenes look like current gen video game graphics. I just assumed they'd go for photorealism in the Oasis scenes. But I guess they did this to keep the budget from ballooning to absurd amounts. Tho I do wonder why a virtual reality game in the year 2045 would have graphics on par with 2017 game cut scenes. Surely something as futuristic and advanced as the Oasis would have graphics that look much more photorealistic.

The whole thing is meant to kind of be a homage and inspired by classic pop culture so they're keeping it "real" by not updating the images. Like how retro video game graphics are in nowadays.
