Steven Spielberg's "Ready Player One"

Ready Player One is kind of a how-to for normies. The rest of us knew everything without being told, a lot of people don't.
True. Also one thing that I liked that they mentioned things without necessarily explaining them. so going online to find out Robocop was in Buckaroo Banzai was odd, in a good way.

Yeah it was definitely the Bay turtles.

Thank goodness we didn't have to see the Bay Formers.

It flatters to deceive in that respect. If you take out the pop-culture stuff the you're basically left with Spy Kids 3D.

I also disliked how when one of the male characters asks to meet a female character IRL she's all "you'll be disappointed..."

Maybe she'd be disappointed in *him*? Should we even bring up that up as a possibility? Nah. It's Straight White Male Fantasy: The Movie.

EDIT: I'm not being an elitist snob by saying everyone should get all the references without them being explained. I just it was clumsily handled like it was written by a non-nerd trying to be nerdy in a way which wouldn't alienate non-nerds. Kinda like The Big Bang Theory in that respect.

I have seen this movie already twice but i m sure i still didn't find all Easter Eggs and Cameos in this , now i have to wait for the Blu Ray Release to get Through Frame by Frame :D

I was a little disappointed that they were the Bay Ninja Turtles as opposed to looking more like the 1990 film or late '80s cartoon Turtles but I suppose since Spielberg is still friends with Bay that was a given.

It's probably the worst Spielberg movie I've seen but I won't blame Spielberg for that but rather the writing which treats the audience as absolute morons. We can see that it's the bike from Akira, you don't need to tell us. It gets props for Buckaroo Banzai! reference but again we know what it's from; you don't need to hit us over the head with it.

It was an exercise in cynical corporate pandering with all the subtlety of a brick to the face.

Yeah true. Also Art3mis REALLY got the shaft in terms of characterization here in comparison to the book, unfortunately.

That doesn't sound too hard considering she had no character arc at all in the film. In fact, no-one did. Percival at a push but even he started and ended the film as the same person.

Decent movie i should say and nice pop culture references to stuff i grew up on

This is a fun movie. Not great, but it is good old fashioned fun

I enjoyed it well enough, but I disagree with the claims that it's Spielberg's best since Catch Me if You Can or Minority Report or whatever. Still, it's nice to have fun, adventure-loving Spielberg back for a bit. If Indy 5 is about on par with this, I'll be happy.

I think this might be his most "fun" movie in that time frame, but I enjoyed The Post more, and though I was disappointed in Lincoln a little bit (I got a very good movie but expected a masterpiece), Lincoln was better.

If Indy 5 comes out this good, I too would be happy. My hype level for Indy 5 is low at this time. They have to win me back after Kingdom of the Craptastic Skull

For me, both Munich and The Post were better. Still, this was very enjoyable, and yes, after being so burned by Indy 4, "very enjoyable" is the best I can manage to hope for with Indy 5 right now. But I still can't help but get excited for it despite my brain telling me not to, lol.

Everytime I want to go in and get excited for Indy 5, I just remember the fridge sequence...and then I cringe, LOL! I have Indy 4 PTSD :csad:

Good call on Munich, though. I almost forgot that one but yes, I liked that more as well

some of the neat details that I caught in my re watch today:
the font on the quarter's back is the same as the one used on the RPO novel
the date on the quarters on Haliday's eyes during his will reading was 1972 pretty sure that was the year he was born as he was a little kid in the 80s.
Pee Wee's bike is in Aech's shop

Saw this last night.

It's somewhat Light on plot and has its share of cheesy moments, but was still decently fun. The CGI is probably the best I've seen in a long time and the Chucky cameo had me dying laughing. There wasn't as much nostalgia as I originally thought their would be and I was a bit surprised by the level of sexual undertones.

Weekend Box Office Estimates...

Foreign: $294,400,000
