Steven Spielberg's ''Terra Nova''

I dont care about the family one bit. At some point a giant meteor will strike the earth and wipe out all human and dinosaur life anyway, so it hardly matters.

different timeline, might not happen in that one

It is established FACT in the show that there are multiple timelines, or are the scientists just guessing??

Oh...and why did they bother to show that the son had a girl who loved him in the future, and then immediately give him a love interest? Either he's kind of a jerk....or they are planning to bring his girlfriend back in time at some point...and honestly...in a world of futuristic guns and dinosaurs, I do not need any teen relationship drama.

I would rather see a series about the 1st and 2nd colonies of Terra Nova instead. That would have been a awesome show. Now...its just cliche

Spielberg needs that "wow" and "wonder" thing that the teenagers and little kids will provide. All adults wouldn't fly with him, as we have seen with Falling Skies, where kids are like a major plot device.

You are going to have angst in a tv show . You don't want angst , play a video game:whatever:

So, I saw the last 45 minutes of the 2-parter.

To save the Earth....they're going back in time....and changing history....and hoping simultaneously that an asteroid doesn't hit them and an ice age doesn't erase their colony?

Otherwise I felt like I was watching Avatar meets Jurassic Park meets Lost meets Aliens.

Not for me.

Well, they do have 22nd century knowledge / technology. Unless they're really incompetent, they should be able to stop a meteor from hitting Earth. We can do that with modern technology.

The real question is why they choose that era. The Cretaceous period is hardly ideal for human habitation. I know, why the writers chose it, cause dinosaurs are cool.

I thought the future looked much realer than the Cretaceous period.

I found it bizarre how the characters seemed rather uninterested by the whole ordeal. Time travel millions of years? No big deal. Living in the Cretaceous? What color do we paint the walls? Most people have more of a reaction when they visit a foreign country for the first time.

Watched the pilot. Poor CGI aside, it's great so far. Digging the premise, story and characters, and am eager to see where it all goes from here.

As mentioned earlier, the future found a "crack in time," and exploited it. They sent the probe that was explained to have verified that it's a "different timestream" as they called it, since it never showed up in their Earth's future. So yeah, they don't have a choice as to where they were going, and didn't have much to encourage them to stay, hence the "pilgrimages."

From what I gathered, the colonization had been going on for years, so I can only assume that the whole planet at the point of the show generally knew what was to be expected, which is ancient animals. It's just the smaller details that the newcomers have to learn, especially about the Sixers, since Taylor said he never told anyone about it since he didn't know who to trust in the future. <--This indicates that they at least have some way of communicating with the future, even though they can't travel back.

The fact that it centers around one family is not the best direction to go.

With lost the stories were diverse but the tone never changed, its trying to show that each character in the family has issues with this change, however instead it is constantly changing the seriousness of the writing. the social element with the father and Langs character is interesting but the entire tone changes when they pander to superfluous problems the kids have.

They shouldn't try and make it a family show.

I liked it. Its a family adventure show like Seaquest sort of.

Only thing I didnt like was the teen son. I hope he dies. Violently.

I can almost bet that the chick the son was talking to before going to Terra Nova will eventually make it to Terra Nova for more teen angst

Wish they would have mentioned what plans they have for when the Meteor hits that killed off the entire Dinosaur population. They don't seem worried about that event & if they somehow stop the Asteroid from hitting Earth. Well that would just **** up history. The only thing I can think of is maybe Terra Nova has some kind of super powered shield to avoid getting destroyed or impacted in some way when the Asteroid hits

what if we find out the Terra Nova colony ends up being what Atlantis will be known as. lol.

I love this show so far, Its great to see tv shows get this kinda quality to it. The effects look good and the story is good enough to last atleast one season. Im curious to see the mysterious aspects of the show like the man made markings on the rocks.

I never really judge a show based on the opening episode. But even though it was not perfect I like it a lot more than Falling Skies.

That would be no fun. I could imagine one of the finales featuring the meteor hitting & when we saw what Terra Nova looked like from up high I immediately pictured a bubble shield like thing covering that whole place

This show is crap. It was all special effects and no story.

I think it was mentioned by the sixers that the markings were made by Taylor's son who has been missing for a few years.

They may at some point tackle the meteor subject but really, should it really be on their minds, I mean they went back 85 million years, so they have what 20 million years to worry about it? I mean that's some positive thinking to feel humans will survive that long or couldn't figure a way to survive or stop the meteor with a 20 million year head start.

Weak show.

How do you really expect us to believe that they don't communicate back and forth.
HOW ELSE WOULD THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A BASE SET UP AND ITS SAFE TO GO THROUGH. Especially with two time lines.

Sigh, poor writing, from the first pilot episode. I won't be watching this, I saw my dinosaurs and I'm content.

I could continue to rant, however I only have one more comment...And who are they marketting this show towards?

hahaha great point, it would be awesome if they didnt know that and just sent people based on some sort of ingorant bliss :P And it would be even more awesome if they hadnt set up a colony so the future people just sent fokls there to their deaths :awesome::doh:

Kind of my thoughts as well, and the Cretaceous period lasted 80 million years so I think they have some time to think it over.

They do communicate but they can't travel back yet. The time period was not selected by them either.
