I don't want to search around because I'm afraid of spoilers so apologies if this has been posted.

Just saw the Stick episode, and his heightened awareness kinda bothers me. It leads to one of two things:

1. Stick has the same radar power as Matty. We have yet to know why.

2. Stick can teach any blind kid to do what he does.

Either case seems to take away what I always thought about DD--what he can do is unique for blind people.

Can someone clue me in? Are we going to learn more about Stick's powers on the show? How does he compare to the comic version (which I never read?)

The comic version of Stick is exactly identical. If you're complaining about Stick downplaying Matt's uniqueness, than the comics are exactly the same. The difference is Stick was born blind so he was aware of his abilities from the beginning. He argues that sighted people lose these abilities because they rely on sight instead. Matt was fortunate because the chemicals he got restored that radar sense.

The only thing I'll say is that Stick was never explicitly shown to have super hearing, super smell, etc., but his ability to function as just as good a fighter as Matt suggests he probably did have it.

Well, he has super tasting from the ice cream.

LOL, that was an interesting scene.

Stick heard through the grapevine about a little blind boy going nuts over various things. He went to see him at the orphanage just to see if he indeed did have the "gift". The gift being superhuman like heightened senses. Not all blind people have the gift. That's what I came away with after watching that episode....

I think its a little more complicated, in that the "gift" isn't the superhuman senses. The "gift" is ( essentially ) the potential talent for chi-powered mystic kung fu super powers. Its just that, if someone with that potential talent *also* happens to be blind, they tend to develop heightened senses very easily. Thus, he looks around for blind people because it makes it slightly easier for him to find candidates to recruit.

he can't teach ANY blind person to fight...they need to have "the gift"
