The white-haired, blue-eyed weather manipulator Ororo Munroe reigns supreme as she takes the top spot in Comic Vine's Top 100 Superheroes 2011 poll.

Storm led the voting poll with 196 pts, 27 points ahead against #2 Superman who accumulated 169 points. Morphues, Spider-Man, The Phantom, Aquaman and Thing followed behind.

160 comic characters were nominated from different publishers and more than 80 Comic Vine members participated the poll. The poll was conducted by a group of Comic Vine members to have and start the site's annual popularity poll.

Storm is currently leading a team starting in X-men #20 (November2011) and will soon become a member of The Avengers in Avengers #21(January 2012).

Storm Facts:

As of the moment...

- Storm holds the record for a female comic-based Marvel Comics character that has the most number of appearances on films including X-men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, cameo appearances in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: First Class, Superhero Movie, etc. Whether Storm or Catwoman holds the title for a female comic character who have the most number of appearances on films requires further research.

-Storm holds the record for a female comic character of Marvel Comics that has the most number of appearances in cartoon series including: Pryde Of The X-Men, X-Men: The Animated Series, The Amazing Spider-man, Wolverine and The X-Men, X-Men Evolution, X-Men Anime, The Superhero Squad Show, and Black Panther.

-Storm holds the record for a female comic-based character with the most number of appearances in video games (more than 30 games) like X-Men Legends, Marvel vs Capcom, Marvel ultimate Alliance, etc.

-Storm is #2 for a female comic character that has the most number of appearances in comics. Invisible Woman took the top spot as she started appearing since 1961 while Storm's first appearance was on May of 1975. Storm may possibly take the top spot in year 2012.

-Storm holds the records for a black comic character with the most number of appearances in films, cartoon series, comics and video games.

Possibly...

-Storm is also the female comic character that has led a team longer than any other female characters in comics

Is it worth joining the Comic Vine forums? Just checked them out, really don't like their appearance. I don't know the common term for what I mean by appearance.

It is worth joining there but still be careful cos the term "fanboy" is often used there.

But in comicbookresources website, i didn't have problems at all.

I'm not up to speed. What's wrong with the term "fanboy"?

My last name is strong, young padawans.

a "fanboy" is a term described to somebody who says his/her favorite character wins even if his/her favorite character clearly loses. or perhaps somebody who is obsessed to his/her fave character.

The term "troll" is also kinda often used there too. But i think you can handle that. i get those stuff because i'm clearly a fanboy but right now, i rarely go to battles forum and just keep on hanging on Storm's forum.

Oh, OK. I wouldn't be interested in battles at all so I won't have to worry.

See ya there! : )

anyway, i think you'll like the site because all the images you have uploaded to that site, it will be saved on you account.

I actually like the way the site was done and what you could do with your account. But there are no signatures. and the news articles are always about Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman which is kinda lame for me because there are just a lot of other things they can write aside from them only.

Sounds like a horrible, horrible place if they voted effin' Storm as the #1 Superhero of all time.

Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon above Batman? (Let alone Batman being #34)

No wonder I've never heard of this site until now.

This thread feels like a cheap ploy to lure people to another message board.

I like Storm, but never regarded her as "top 10" material, let alone being #1.

I'd personally rank my top 10:

1. Batman
2. Spider-Man
3. Superman
4. Green Lantern
5. Iron Man
6. Robin / Nightwing / Dick Grayson
7. Wolverine
8. Wonder Woman
9. The Incredible Hulk
10. Hellboy

I enjoy the exploits of NFL Superpro more than friggin' Storm. :o

And does anyone remember THIS immortal line: "Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning? It wins an academy award, but then is content to coast along on subpar superhero roles for the next decade." Something like that.... :awesome:

that wasn't my intention.

A lot of Storm fans voted the poll. Perhaps next year, the results will be different. :yay:

and just to add, why for me she's a top 10 material, Storm is the only female character in Marvel Comics (perhaps we can include other publishers) i consider who really took a leadership role. Possibly led a team longer than any other female characters in comics. She's possibly the most popular black character, is the #2 female character with the most number of appearances in comics(DC and Marvel Comics) (Storm is currently taking the 2nd spot because the #1 started appearing in 1961 while Storm started appearing in 1975, but Storm may possibly take the top spot before 2012 ends). Storm also has appeared in a lot of films (including cameo appearances in x-men origins: wolverine and x-men first class and superhero movie). Storm also holds (but correct me if i'm wrong) the female comic-based and the black character that has the most number of appearances in video games.

There are Storm fans?? :hehe:

But seriously, it's great you see her as breaking down boundaries, but that doesn't make her compelling. I love Luke Cage not because he's black, but because he's an awesome character. To me, Storm is as charismatic and interesting as burnt toast.

Finally, this.

Are they referring to hotness as "top?" I like Storm, but let's not act like her character hasn't been ****ed up over the decades.

That is the weirdest poll i've ever seen...

From what I can tell from the explanation of how they got to those results, it's a not much of a surprise they came out so weird.

22 posters argued about who got into the top 100. Then 81 posters voted for 3 characters each, which determined who had the biggest head start.

I would assume that most of those 81 posters used one of their three votes to Storm, giving her 160 points before the voting even started.

Meaning only 36 points of her actual poll results came from an unbiased poll.

You really wanna see who is the most popular superhero of all time?

Don't put restrictions on it, don't have different stages of voting and don't have multiple votes.

Just get everyone to post their ONE vote in a thread that is open for, let's say a week, and count it up at the end...

In fact, has anyone done that before on the Hype? That might be fun :)

Storm is a great character.
Storm is a nice addition to the upcoming Avengers roster.
Storm is awesome in MvC3.
Storm is NOT the best Superhero, though.

Superman and the other 19 comic characters started with 160 points. Storm and other 19 characters started with 140 points. The Comicvine community just started their poll this year so perhaps on the following year, the rules are improved.

Yeah why don't Superherohype have an annual poll too. I'd definitely participate.:yay:

Once again, Anubis tells nothing but truth.

Batman is the least interesting character of the Batbooks. Both Dick and Babs are light years ahead of him in terms of being awesome characters.

Bruce wishes he was Dick Grayson:o
