Ghostbusters is in the talk?
Will you talk about remakes of that and
Karate Kid?
I have something to add.
NEVER BACK DOWN
This movie is like a remake of the original
Karate Kid, with a touch of
Terry McGinnis in making the protagonist a former trouble maker living with his mom and younger brother.
I assume we'll get to GHOSTBUSTERS. It's too big of a classic not to get into. As for remakes? No. We have a master list of 48 films for myself and the guest to do research on. It's again... It's a formidable year in film. Even the flops and failures have a certain quality. So... No time for in depth re-make talk.

Now... I know I could get debate as to how I categorized these films. Guess what? I really could care less. The bigger point of the list is not that we are even going to talk about all of them. It's just in case they do come up we on the show should have a good overview of each IN CASE they do come up. Also, in going through each one there's a possibility of finding some common themes, or elements of one kind of another. Why was that year of releases, some having been in the planning stages for a long time, some written and executed within the year itself, so special? On that list are films that not only have big hits but the lesser films are also films lots of the public, especially the fanboy set, grew up with and are intimate with in some way, thanks to the home video revolution and cable, both of which are the basis of our a la carte video streaming and binging consumer pop culture world we have today. Our parents and grand parents did not have the luxury of watching and rewatching something until the film was memorized within their very atoms. They were lucky if a film was popular enough to get re-released or be shown on TV more than one time a year, IF that. By the time 1984 comes around though something brand new was afoot.
In any case... It was a HELL of a year for movies and pop culture. Something that has ripples until this day.
