It seems like it's launching in a pretty barebones state, but they also seem to have a long term roadmap for the game. I'm still very interested in the game, but I won't be getting it at launch.

yeah. I hope they add those modes soon via DLC.

I'm now seriously questioning if I'm going to pick this up at launch. I was all set to get it tomorrow, but man, this is so disappointing to hear........

I mean.......95% of the time I spend in these fighting games is quick, pick up and play "exhibition" matches against the CPU.

so without that, I think I'll get bored with this rather quickly.

WTF is with all the missing features? I mean that f'ing sucks. No player v CPU? That's bs. That's like my primary training tool in any fighting game.

So what modes are there?

I guess my copy did get delayed. It's coming Thursday instead of tomorrow. No big, though.

Lame. They should have released the game when it was more complete instead of bare bones. At least they arent charging for the missing features

The thing that matters to the vast majority of people is online play, and they wanted to make sure they released in time for EVO. I don't think it really matters much as long as the updates that adds these features are free as I expect they will be.

I can't think of many features a fighting game needs other then vs, online and training.

And TBH, thats where their focus should be. Fighters live and die by the competitive crowd. The arcade mode/story mode crowd really are irrelevant to fighters.

Irrelevant is maybe too strong a word, but we're getting a story mode for free later anyway, so I don't think it matters.

even if online play is the main focus, that doesn't excuse them from gutting the offline, single player modes.

yeah, it's great they are adding story mode down the road for free, but what about right now at launch?

Why no basic vs CPU exhibition mode? where's the excuse for that?

I was all set to pick this up this week. but I'm not a hardcore, competitive online player. I'm a casual player who likes to play the offline single player modes most of the time. But, from the sound of it, it seems there won't be much content for me to really enjoy. it sounds too barebones for a casual, offline single player.

so I just watched the Cammy intro vid posted above.

now, in that vid, it looks like Player 1, as Cammy, is fighting CPU opponents and there are multiple rounds in a match ( looks like standard 2 out of 3 rounds ) judging by the number of "V" icons.

so, my question is.......what mode is that? that looks like classic vs CPU with 2 out of 3 rounds.

so now I'm confused.

Just don't buy it at launch then, I guess.

oh, I'm now seriously considering delaying my purchase until they add more single player content and/or they release Ibuki. which is unfortunate because I've been so hyped for this game. :(

however, as I just posted above, I'm now confused because I'm watching those character intro trailers that zenith has been posting. and in those, it looks like standard vs CPU matches for best of 2 out of 3 rounds.

so........are those videos showing a mode that's not in the game at launch, according to these reviews?

I honestly don't know, but it seems you're putting single player content over multi, and I think it's pretty obvious that's not the focus at launch. You're better off just waiting until more of that content is added down the road.

well, I'm definitely not going to rush out and buy it in the next few days as I had originally planned. I'm going to wait and see if anyone can clarify what is being shown in those intro vids.

otherwise, yeah, I think I will wait until more single player content is added.

People play fighters for single player modes? Like really? This is a serious question, because I have been playing fighters since I was tiny, my brother is actually pretty damn good at them, and we love the competitive scene. I don't know anyone who buys them and doesn't play vs. or online.

we may be in the minority. but yes, there are players who play fighting games for single player modes. I know I can't be the only one. :o

not everyone has family or friends they can invite over to play against.

not everyone wants to play online matches ( mainly because we're not that good online....lol ).

no, some players just want to play the offline, single player stuff like arcade mode or story mode or even just a quick, pick up and play exhibition match against the CPU. We are casual players who aren't into the competitive stuff. And there's no reason why we should be left out.

it doesn't really take much to add a proper arcade mode where there's more than 2 or 4 matches for each character. It doesn't take much to add a basic vs CPU mode which seems like it's a classic mode in all fighting games.

Not to mention the people who DO play online, but don't want to be bothered with rage quitters/racists (via chat)/LAG LAG LAG...

Single-player content in fighting games is just going increasingly extinct. I remember SoulCalibur 3's single-player content being ridiculously good and numerous
