Missing Woman Found Dead After Being Buried Alive by Landscaper

The body of a missing New Jersey woman was found Wednesday in a shallow grave, where police say she was buried alive by her landscaper and another man.

Fatima Perez was first reported missing Monday afternoon. Relatives told police Perez left her Camden home that morning with $8,000 in cash to buy a new car*. Carlos Alicea-Antonetti, a landscaper who worked for Perez's family, had reportedly agreed to drive her to pick up the car.

Two days later, Perez's body was found buried about 20 miles from her home. An autopsy revealed that she died of asphyxiation, and police said her mouth and eyes were covered with duct tape before she was buried.

On Thursday, Alicea-Antonetti and his alleged accomplice, Ramon Ortiz, were indicted on charges of first degree murder. Both reportedly confessed during their interviews with police.

He picked up Perez that morning in a van near her home to take her to buy the vehicle. They began arguing, and Perez fell out of the van, injuring herself. But she got back into the vehicle.

Alicea-Antonetti then picked up Ortiz while the victim lay in the back of the van. Both men tied her up and eventually placed duct tape over her mouth and eyes.

They drove southbound to a wooded area, where Ortiz began to dig a hole. The men put Perez in the hole, alive, poured lime on her and buried her. They tried to camouflage the grave with branches and debris.
And from Ortiz's statement:

Alicea-Antonetti picked him up at 1115 North 23rd Street in Camden, where Ortiz was cutting grass. He entered the van but did not realize at first that Perez was in the back because she was tied up and lying on the floor.

He noticed her only when she began to make a noise. She asked Ortiz to help her. But Alicea-Antonetti drove southbound, down Route 42 to the Black Horse Pike.

At some point, Alicea-Antonetti pulled off the roadway. Ortiz took a shovel from the van and dug the grave, as his boss directed him. Alive, Perez was covered with lime and buried.
Both are being held on $5 million bail on charges of first degree murder.

Utah Lawmaker Attempting to Reinstate "Humane" Firing Squad Executions

Following last month's botched lethal injection in Oklahoma, a lawmaker in Utah says he wants to bring back death by firing squad — "the most humane way to kill somebody," he believes — as an option for those sentenced to death in his state.

Republican Rep. Paul Ray, pictured here between a fishbowl full of candy and a fishbowl full of cigarettes, will introduce his proposal during Utah's next legislative session in January. Earlier this year, lawmakers in Wyoming and Missouri proposed similar ideas (Missouri Rep. Rick Brattin explaining in part, "A firing squad would be quick and something we could do at a moment's notice"), but neither succeeded. Ray may be more successful, though, as Utah has a tradition of executing criminals by firing squad, the last being held in 2010. (Utah eliminated execution by firing squad in 2004, but those sentenced to death before that date still had the option of choosing it.)

"It sounds like the Wild West, but it's probably the most humane way to kill somebody," Ray explained to the AP. He continued, "The prisoner dies instantly. ... It sounds draconian. It sounds really bad, but the minute the bullet hits your heart, you're dead. There's no suffering."

Opponents of the proposal, including Richard Dieter, executive director of the Washington, D.C.,-based Death Penalty Information Center, which opposes capital punishment, point out that a number of things can go wrong when executing by firing squad — the inmate can move, the shooters can miss. "The idea is that it would be very quick and accurate but just a little movement by the person could change that," Dieter said. "Things can go wrong with any method of execution."

Ah. If only there were a better, even more humane way.

If you want to use a firing squad then go ahead but don't try and claim it his 'humane" that is just idiotic. Even the best marksman at close range isn't going to hit his mark 100% of the time and numerous things can effect the outcome. I'm not vehemently opposed to the death penalty but I think making them serve life is a far worse punishment than an easy death and its a fact that killing prisoners is way more expensive than life in prison

Meanest wife ever forces husband to sell his 661-lb Lego collection

The Local reports that a Swedish Lego enthusiast recently put up an advertisement selling his entire 300 kg Lego collection for $11,500. He claims he's selling his massive cache of bricks to save his marriage. Allegedly his "old bag" of a wife gave him an ultimatum: "Get this **** out" or it's over.

In the ad he wrote:

"You can make a difference! Save my marriage. The old bag said last Friday 'now get this **** out.' I don't know if it was me or the Lego she was talking about but I think it was the Lego."
The loot comes in dozens of containers and includes 300 kgs of bricks, 20 kgs of instructions, 44 kgs of wheels and "a practically complete collection of the Lego space range." Ugh. This guy sounds amazing.

I have never understood the desire of someone who doesn't work in law enforcement to test out a bulletproof vest. It's like wanting to be tazed. Why? Plus, why would this guy test out the vest with someone he wasn't sure could actually hit the vest? She could have shot him in the groin... Asinine.

Crime Explosion Occurs When Fleeing Coat Thief Struck in Hit and Run

Police in Toronto report that a fleeing thief was struck by a car in a hit and run on Saturday evening while being chased by a retail store employee.

The thief (and victim) was being chased after stealing multiple coats when he was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle then fled the scene, but was apprehended by police a short time later.

When the vehicle was stopped, officers found drugs on the passenger and ended up bringing both the driver and the passenger into custody. Charges are also pending against the victim of the hit and run, who sustained serious leg injuries, for all of the coat theft.

Three crimes for the price of probably a lot of money, when all is said and done!

If you live in D.C., get ready for a a few weeks of racism skewed as advertising. Twenty D.C. Metrobuses will feature an advertising campaign that calls for an end to U.S. foreign aid in Islamic countries—accompanied by a picture of Hitler talking to an anti-Jewish Islamic leader during World War II.

Pamela Geller of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, who is responsible for the purchase of the ads, says a number of times in an interview with ABC that we must be "even-handed."

"My intent is to leapfrog over a media that is not even-handed, that is advancing the propaganda against the Jewish state," says Pamela.
Nothing even-handed about this, she's right. The AFDI ads come as a response to a previous bus ad from organization American Muslims for Palestine that encouraged blocking US aid to Israel.

According to The Washington Post,

The AFDI ad shows Hitler meeting with Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Palestinian nationalist and grand mufti of Jerusalem who allied himself with the Third Reich before and during World War II. Besides making propaganda broadcasts for the Nazis and recruiting European Muslims to serve in the Waffen SS, Husseini backed Hitler's policy of exterminating Jews.
Geller claims she's gotten hundreds of emails in support of the ads, but a few city bus riders are not happy, saying it's "outrageous" and "racist."

Woman Threatens to Shoot up Burger King over Stale Cinnamon Roll

Police in South Carolina say that a woman threatened to shoot everyone in a Burger King restaurant after she was served a stale cinnamon roll. (Shocking not only because of the obvious, but also because "stale cinnamon roll" is still a fairly appetizing phrase.)

The Post and Courier reports that the woman was eating at a Mount Pleasant Burger King location in South Carolina with two friends on Tuesday when she complained that her cinnamon bun wasn't fresh. A witness told police that she became angry and started shouting, then stormed out when a manager tried to speak to her.

She came back later that day with her friends and threatened to shoot the restaurant's employees and patrons. According to the police report, she said, "I'm going to shoot down the place." She left when employees called the police.

The police have not yet found her and no one has been arrested.

Fake Student Wraps Up Fake College Career With Graduation Bomb Threat

A 22-year-old woman has reportedly confessed to making multiple bomb threats to try and cancel Quinnipiac University's commencement last weekend, because she didn't want her family to know she had blown all their money and wasn't graduating.

The Boston Globe has the bizarre story:

Hamden police said Danielle Shea of Quincy, Mass., gave a detailed confession after being arrested at the indoor campus athletic arena, the TD Bank Sports Center, where the commencement for the university's College of Arts and Sciences had been moved because of the threats. She was wearing a cap and gown she'd purchased.

Police said Shea didn't attend the university this year, but her mother paid thousands of dollars she thought was for her daughter's education. When graduation arrived, Shea panicked when relatives didn't see her name on the graduation roster, they said.

According to police, Shea made two calls to the university's public safety department. In the first, about 20 minutes before the start of the 6 p.m. graduation ceremony, she stated there was a ''bomb in the library,'' said police. In the second call, about 20 minutes later, police said Shea warned ''Several bombs are on campus'' and noted ''You haven't cleared out graduation. That's not a good idea.''
The commencement resumed Sunday evening after a 90-minute delay for the bomb threats. Shea has been charged with "first degree threatening and falsely reporting an incident" and held on a $20,000 bond, which Sallie Mae will surely be happy to help out with.

Last night at the Billboard Music Awards, the teleprompter got away from her as she was introducing Australian boy band 5 Seconds of Summer. She accidentally called them One Direction before losing her place completely, giving up, and declaring herself "the worst reader."

Later, Kendall blamed the flub on forgetting her contacts.

You know you've messed up when even Mr. Kourtney Kardashian, Scott Disick, is making fun of you. Kendall posted (and then deleted) an Instagram video of Lord Disick mocking her by pretending he'd won an award instead of Lorde, and then saying, "Sorry guys, I'm really not such a reader."

Professional Surfer Arrested for Attempted Murder

A professional surfer and model is being held on a million dollar bail after she allegedly tried to kill an elderly woman in Hawaii.

Police say surfer Jill Hansen followed 73-year-old Elizabeth Conklin home in a fit of rage and attacked her, driving over Conklin with her car.

A maintenance worker says Hansen then put her Volkswagen Passat in reverse and prepared to run Conklin over again.

To stop her, the worker allegedly bashed Hansen's back window in with a crowbar. At that point, police say, Hansen abandoned her car and took off on foot.

Police eventually traced the vehicle to Hansen and arrested her last week.

Conklin was hospitalized in serious condition with cuts and a head injury. She told reporters she thinks Hansen was trying to steal her car.

Hansen apparently has a history of violent behavior, and there are online forums dedicated the way she drives.

This isn't her first run in with police. She has a pending assault case and in a separate case was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

There is also an active restraining order filed by her father. According to the court documents, her father says she used Facebook to find someone to murder him and his family.
