What do you call the underground transportation service in your metropolis?

BART (for Bay Area Rapid Transit)

It's underground in the city of San Francisco, but aboveground everywhere else in the SF Bay Area.

Haha.

Well, we have a subway, also known as the TTC.

I have a city bus... it's not underground though :(

In London it's called "The Underground" generally.

Being easily amused from time to time, I used to love riding BART just for fun. Not so much during the summer when it would inevitably break down during the horribly crowded 4:00-5:00 ride from Oakland to Berkeley, but it was awesome at night.

How long has it been since BART broke down, anyway? It used to feel like it was breaking down every other week.

I moved away from the Bay Area a few years ago, so I have no idea how dependable it is now, but when I was there it seemed to break down a few times a week. Sometimes it was just for a few minutes, but there were also a lot of half-hour breakdowns that always seemed to happen when there 10,000,000 people aboard, half of them either talking loudly on their cell phones or playing their iPods so loudly that you could hear their music all the way to Arkansas. Good times.

Neither, it's the El-Train. If anyone called it a tube they'd get a kick to the groin.
