As you know Viacom is suing Google and You Tube for 1 billion dollars...

A what if question...If Viacom was to win and Google decided to shut down You Tube...How would the world react with out You Tube?

also, YouTube needs to improve its search engine of finding certain types of videos on the site.

Hasn't Viacom already taken plenty of steps towards making its own programming available online, with commercials that generate the revenue they crave so much?

If they're already trying to make a compromise, and Youtube is actively taking down copyrighted material (the daily show and the like is almost nonexistent on Youtube now), why would they go as far as shutting it down?
