Does any one else agree this has been a terrible summer for Blockbuster movies.

I disagree. It hasnt been the best but it has been better than last year.

MI3-( 7 or 8 ) out of 10.
The Da Vinci Code (8 or 9) out of 10.
Xmen 3- 6.5/10
POTC2- (8 or 9) out of 10
Superman Returns- 8/10

It had 5 major movies

X-Men - I enjoyed it, many didn't
Superman - Was considered good by most people, I liked it (mostly)
DaVinci - I thought it was below average
Pirates - Haven't seen it, supposed to be good
M:I-3 - Haven't seen it, supposed to be average

Overall, average, definitely not terrible

The bad movies did very well and the good movies not so.

I think it'll be a good time for non-summer movies though.

The summer movies can be described in one word: Disappointing.

This summer is like a high school date. You go out on it looking to score and all you get out is a cheap feel up and girl asking to be taken home. :down :(

Well last year I was happy with my Batman and Star Wars. The year before I got Spiderman 2. So that was like scoring each year for me.

But it seems like every year I hear "So-and-so summer movies are crap. What a crap summer. Next year's summer movies sound so much better. It's so going to kick ass". Then the next year comes around, and we get the previous quote again.

Well last year was the first mention of the "slump". This year was week after week of movies with bad critical reviews and mediocre box office returns. The only movie to do well was Pirates.

2003
- LOTR:ROTK
- POTC
- X2
- Finding Nemo
- Kill Bill

2004
- Spidey 2
- Shrek 2
- The Incredibles
- Meet the Fockers

2005
- Batman Begins
- SW:ROTS
- Harry Potter 4
- King-Kong
- Narnia

Lord of the Rings was not in the summer
Niether was Narnia or King Kong

This summer sucks. Had a chance to see some really cool summer movies, but X3 and Superman failed in terms of quality.Just saw Miami Vice...that sucked too.Next summer should be great.

Cinemaman said it best.... this summer is a sorta downer compared to the others previous. Yea we had a few "big" flicks, but they either weren't so great (Da Vinci Code) or were just there and done (Pirates 2, M:I:III)... and we're also looming in the shadow of the impending Summer 2007 which will blow us away... (Shrek 3, Pirates 3, Spidey-3, Transformers, Harry Potter 5, etc.)

Well, if The Prestige, The Departed and The Fountain are great movies, then I will be happy :)

I hope they will get Oscar Awards :D

Nah... I liked this summer a lot. Pirates 2, X3 and DWP were my favorite films of the season. I like this summer better than last summer.

It wasn't terrible, SR and X3 we're disappionting, Pirates was great. I didn't get a chance to see MI or Da Vinci.

I havent seen Miami Vice but I love Micheal Mann so I dont have any doubts.
