Super Mario World...only mario game that might be better is Mario64
:lips: (<<hilarious)

While I love both games, I gotta give the edge to SMW, pretty much because so many levels had multiple exits, I remember playing at a friends house once trying to find and defeat all 96 levels, good times. Mario 3 was great and Mario World wouldn't have been what it was without Mario 3's overworld map, but Mario World took that concept and did a great job expanding upon it.

I loved both but I'm going to have to give the vote to Super Mario World. It was bigger and a bit better in the long run.

I love both. But, I have to give it to SMB3. It was the game that changed the series.

As innovative as SMB3 was, I'd have to say SMW. Just remembering the feeling of picking up the SNES for the first time and playing it...yeeeeah. Still has so much replayability to this day.

SMB3 was certainly more challenging, which is appealing. I can fully understand why someone would prefer it over SMW.

I had it for GBA and the thing I hated about it was that you couldn't save whenever you wanted to. There was some way to save but if you did it twice your game was erased.

My first video game was smb3 on the gba. You could save, it's just that if you have to quit after saving. If you continue later and don't save again, you start over. You can continue and "quicksave" as many times as you like. If you beat any fortresses or castles, then if you forget to save, you continue from there. The same feature is used in New Super Mario Bros Wii.

The correct answer is Super Mario Bros. 3.

Kuribo's Shoe FTW.

Both games are among the best I've ever played, but Imma have to go with World, due to the larger levels, secrets, better boss fights, and Yoshi.

It's a hard choice, but no matter how much I love Super Mario Bros 3, I have this special love for SMW...so I chose that.

It's probably because it introduced Yoshi.

I just downloaded SMB3 tonight , that game rocked my world back in the day , still fantastic but the levels are short , inventive though , I give it to SMB3 for laying new groundwork.

I love both, and still play both quite a bit. I have to say, if you're with a crowd of people. and just hangin out, drinking, and passing the controller around, I have to give it to SMB3. But if you're playing by yourself, then it's SMW. I love SMW, cause there are so many levels, different paths, and secret levels to find, that it just makes it an overall better adventure, if you're looking to complete the game 100%. ;)

You couldnt save anything at all back in 1990. It was play the entire game all in one shot. LOL....good times

Actually there were som games in the 8-bit era you could save your progress, like Zelda and Metroid.

And count me as another one who didn't fall in love with SMB 3, because you couldn't save. It was so annoying, so I'd pick SMW any day.

I was coming in here ready to vote for World, but then I remembered that 3 was before Bowser sold his kids to clone himself a mini-me, so I'm voting for Super Marios Bros 3.

But, Superferret....New Super Mario Bros Wii has not only Bowser Jr, but the return of ALL the Koopa Kids.

They must have just been off to boarding school or something.

And the Koopa Kids were in Super Mario World.

And they didn't appear in games for so long was because his wife gained custody. They divorced when it became apparent that Bowser was kidnapping Peach for more than just a ransom. They appeared in New Super Mario Bros. b/c Bowser won joint custody after proving he can be a responsible parent with his Bowser Jr. clone.

They were in World? Hmm... that might change things, but the Frog suit is still quite a powerful factor.

The frog suit is great, but I say again: "Kuribo's Shoe FTW."

I think my favorite suit from SMB3 was the Hammer Bro suit.

Too bad you only can find maybe three in the whole game.

But those suits were actually useful in more situations than the frog suit.

Both games are great, but I'm gonna have to say SMW. One thing I didn't like about SMB3 is that you couldn't replay levels.

World. I'd spend weeks and weeks on that game. (and probably a week or so currently.) I will say it is my favorite SNES game/Mario game period.

And don't forget the music. All the NES and SNES mario games music were great.
