villians that i would like to see:
Deathstroke
Merlyn
The Top
Fiddler
KGBeast
Terra-Man
Brick
Anomaly

They didn't wear masks though, or have billionaire secret identities.

They're still successful action hero archers. Whether they wear a mask or are rich is irrelevant. Though both Legolas and Robin Hood were wealthy. Legolas was an elvish prince while Robin was from a rich family.

people keep on saying that they are a bunch of C and D characters in the script, which is partially true. What I don't like is like how Merlyn gets grouped into those categories as well, when he is more of a B character, and a good nemesis for Green Arrow.

Agreed, there is defintely more they could do with Merlyn. I feel like there could have been a little more exposition between Merlyn's ambiguous entrance and when he comes face to face with Ollie in the prison.

Completely agree there.

hopefully we get to see green arrow film happen sooner rather then later.

It'd be awesome if someone could pm me the script as well. I'm not sure exactly who to ask though.....

you better be careful their clank81, i see u havent read showtime's sticky thread about pirating copyrighted materials we can no longer post/pm these and other materials any more.

I have been out of the loop for a VERY long time. What exactly is the status of this movie? Can we ever hope of actually seeing it get made? (I really wanna see it get made; I love the Green Arrow!)

last reports have the film is shelved for the time being, maybe with some rewrites it could happen but doesnt look to be happening any time in the very near future. Right now its only looking like jonah hex who has a script, star, and director and green lantern are the next likely dc characters that will most likely be filming this year with 2010 release dates.

if they do a rewrite, they need to give Ollie more of a personality. Whatever made he well liked in the comics is almost not present in the script. (Cynical/political/etc)

Yea. The biggest problem is they made Green Arrow practically interchangeable with any other hero. They are too focused on the concept and not the character. The concept should be built around the character. This script symbolized a really creative avenue for comic movies that havent been seen before too, but its not living up to itself.

well from what we know it has been sheleved for now so maybe if its picked up again they would make some changes like that to the script or drop the whole super max prision plot and just do a standard GA film.

Honestly I feel that Green Arrow is kinda wasted in a Super Max film.

I mean Oliver's origin story is pretty unique compared to your typical Superhero and I think the character would be better served with an island origin story. Imagine Castaway meets Batman Begins.

Now if you want to use another B, C or D hero, like Wildcat or Mister Terrific or Congo Bill or, hell, Lobo go right ahead.

With so many superhero films coming out it's a good idea to vary the storytelling structure, so I can appreciate what they're aiming for with the SuperMax approach. But Green Arrow does have a good origin and his personality and history should infuse the film.

I haven't read the script, so I don't know what the exact structure is, but what could perhaps be the best of both worlds is a rewrite that gives it a flashback structure. You have Green Arrow in SuperMax, and as he fends for his life against supervillains and tries to escape and clear his name you have a number of sequences where he thinks back to how he got to this point in his life: how it all started with his origin, his life with Dinah, the mistakes he's made, etc.

i would go with wildcat
I'd go for that.

Lord of The Rings movies were hardly built around Legolas. He was a supporting character and did and said little for the most part.

This movie isn't getting made. They've been kicking it around for years and don't want to commit to it.

A lot of movies spend many years in development before they get made. Daredevil was in development for about a decade before it finally hit screens, the same goes for a lot of other superhero films.

well, look at Nottingham aka Robin Hood. They completely changed the premise.

At the sametime, I would never think that Johnny Depp's Rum Diary would get made, and now it is. Hollywood is weird; it's all about the timing and good luck.
