Back in 2006, David Goyer wrote a script for a Flash movie, featuring Barry Allen and Wally West, revolving time travel, doppler effect and such. The villain would be Zoom, the reverse flash.

Does anyone here wanted the movie to get made.

It sounded great. :csad:

^Sounding great and being great is completely different things. If I remember correctly wasn't Goyer the one responsible for directing that atrocity Blade 3? He's a good writer and that idea sounded pretty good for a Flash movie but as director he's ****. But I would rather him than the wannabe directors being thrown around for a Flash movie.

Rumors going around are that the script turned in was too dark for The Flash. Don't know if that's true since the script hasn't surfaced yet, but I think the tone for The Flash needs to be serious but fun at the same time. You definitely don't want to go all Batman with the Flash.

True, we're not talking about too dark of a character. Goyer might have put too much of Blade and Batman into his vision. The Green Arrow "Super Max" idea is more up his alley. That's probably why WB wanted a comedy director instead, first Shawn Levy and now David Dobkin. The tone should be somewhere between Fantastic Four and Iron Man.

When they hired Levy, the rumor was that he was to use elements of the Goyer script but make it lighter than Batman Begins and Superman Returns. I'd assume that Dobkin would be a better fit because his comedies (Shanghai Knights, Wedding Crashers) have been edgier and more mature than what Levy has done (Cheaper by the Dozen, Night at the Museum). If only he could just get the damn film off the ground. Just don't use Vince Vaughn as the Flash.

That Flash TV series had a pretty dark tone to it especially the pilot, but the humor gave it a nice balance. The Flash should be funny but not a complete slapstick comedy. I think his personality has to shine though though out the movie not just in between action scenes.

I do think Ryan Reynolds would've been a good Flash though. :o

Agreed, the tv series had a dark side but it also some great moments of subtle humor. The Incredible Hulk movie did a good job of paying homage to the old Bill Bixby/Lou Ferrigno series. Same thing ought to happen here, John Wesley Shipp needs a cameo when the Flash movie gets going.
