Back in the early 80's, my time, there were a few fleeting trends in entertainment that came and went quickly. Aside from a boatload of cheesy 3-D pictures, Jaws 3 being among them, there was, what I refer to, the Super-vehicle trend, i.e., shows like Knight Rider and AirWolf. But, there was also at least two action flicks that have become more and more obscured over the years. Clint Eastwood's Firefox and Blue Thunder with Roy Schieder and Malcolm McDowell. There was also a throwaway Tommy Lee Jones picture called Black Moon Rising that made Knight Rider look like The Dark Knight, but it's Fox and Thunder that kept my attention as a wee shaver. The super-vehicles, themselves, were and still are badass, even though the crude, Commodore 64 graphics are the only things about them that haven't aged well. If it were me, I wouldn't mind a re-make of Blue Thunder, even though I generally despise re-makes. What could it hurt?

I remember Battletruck, released elsewhere as Warlords of the 21st Century. The titular truck was a pretty mean beast back in the day and there was an armed and armoured motorcycle as well.

That reminds me. Street Hawk was a TV series cashing in on the success of Knight Rider.

Automan also from the stable of Glen A. Larson (of Knight Rider fame) did the Tron trick of creating some very fancy looking vehicles out of thin air.

Viper, yet another re-take on Knight Rider, had a super car with a transforming shell.

There was the van in Tango & Cash.

Also the muscle car in xXx.

A large number of vehicles in various James Bond movies...

IMHO no '80s super-vehicle holds a candle to THIS one!
