While making dinner, one of our kids asked us: "Can Superman shoot heat vision out of only one eye? Can he blink it?"
Stumped us. I know he can vary and focus his heat vision - its intensity and the field of effect - but...?
We *assume* the answer is yes, but can't recall any instances of this in the TV shows or movies, and I don't remember noticing any one-eyed super-vision (of any type) in the comics that I've read (far from all of the ones out there). I suppose it would depend on how his heat vision works/where in the brain the heat beam is generated - is it only generated when his eyes are working in tandem, or is it an either-eye-or-both power?
Is there a canonical answer for this/evidence for or against anywhere?
What about his X-ray vision? Telescopic vision? Microscopic?
Since these are receptive rather than emissive, the answer could be different than for heat vision.
Tried some Google searches; checked Wikipedia's "Powers and Abilities of Superman"; no info either way.
Thanks!
