Superhero Casting You're Glad Didn't Happen

Wow, I didn't even know about that one. And it would've absolutely been horrible...something about Joaquin's acting has always been very wooden to me.

I would never call Phoenix wooden, but I've really grown tired of him in recent years. Ever since his fake rapper documentary, he just seems to go over the top in all his roles and it takes me out of the movie.

Justin Timberlake, Simon Rex, Tom Cruise, Nicholas Cage as Tony Stark/Iron Man

Emily Blunt as Black Widow. Scarlett Johansson knocked it out of the park in that role, proved the doubters wrong and is a bona fide movie star.

I'm much happier that we got Evans, but I think Krasinski could have pulled Cap off with the right training.

I think Krasinski could've been awesome. Same with Blunt. I'm glad no Josh Hartnett as Batman and no Dougray Scott as Wolverine.

Dirt nasty was gonna be tony stark?? Holy ****

Yep and apparently it was very close to actually happening.

I actually can't picture Phoenix playing any superhero save for maybe Bruce Banner. I couldn't see him as Strange at all.

Jake Gyllenhaal as Spider-Man for Spider-Man 2.

Although I'm glad that he didn't replace Maguire when he hurt his back, I think Gyllenhaal would have made for a pretty good Peter/Spider-Man. If Raimi's Spider-Man 4 had happened and Tobey Maguire didn't want to continue in the role, replacing him with Jake Gyllenhaal moving forward for a couple of films probably would have been better than the two Marc Webb movies that we got.

The Justice League Mortal cast. Ryan Gosling as Batman (good actor, horrible fit for the role).

Ryan Gosling was not going to play Batman in Justice League Mortal.

It ruin continuity though have different Spider-Man in same universe.

Gosling was almost Batman in BvS. Armie Hammer was almost Batman in Mortal.

I don't think Gosling was anything more than internet rumors for BvS.

It would be no different than Mark Ruffalo replacing Edward Norton as Bruce Banner or Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard as Rhodey in the MCU.

They replace actors who only play role once. Tobey would play Spider-Man for 3 times if they replace him for Spider-Man 4.

While a lot of those castings would be terrible, well, I don't think Jack Black could have made Green Lantern any worse and his antics probably would have fit with the ridiculous tone of the film.

Jack Black's Green Lantern would have been 100% better.

Jack Black's Green Lantern would have been 100% better.

Well, it couldn't have been a lot worse ! I mean, a Jack Black movie with a giant fart-cloud that plans to eat the Earth, as a main villain (and a guy who looks like he has a couple of giant testicles growing out of his head) well, that
actually makes sense.

They could have still kept it in the same universe. Just because a new actor plays a character doesn't mean they always reboot it. Another example is James Bond. There was still continuity after Sean Connery left the role. It's happened in television many times before too.

Oh, he would have made it far, far, far worse. I like Black in many roles, but the GL Corps are soldier-cops, and there was far too much humor with what we got any way. I can't imagine Black trying to pull off the necessary competence and arrogance that GLs have. However, if someone were to suggest Black as G'Nort, that could work.

Obviously Jack Black would not be doing a straight take on GL.
