Just watched it for the first time in years (watched 1 and donner cut recently).
The quality of production is very poor. Story is rushed (I realise a lot was chopped). Nuclear man is sooo hammy as is Lenny.

Best thing is Chris Reeve as solid as ever. A real shame as there is heart in this film.
 
I always was impressed at the dedication Reeve put into Superman no matter how weak the material. When I watch Superman 4 I pretend that the storyline involves Superman being trapped in a bad movie. Somehow that makes it more bearable.
 
I don't even think Reeve is especially good. He's not exactly phoning it in, but he knows how to play the character(s) so well he can do it in his sleep.
 
I love how everyone wanted a DC of Superman IV. I think the version we got was better.

Well said. It just makes me wish those money-grabbing b**tards, the Salkinds hadn't fired Donner, because imagine how great the movies could have been. :yay:
