Superman/Batman: Public Enemies (New animated movie!)

Thanks alot for the info all of you guys! <3

This looks good.

Hopefully it's better than the other DC animated movies.
I haven't been too keen on the DC animated movies because they still use Bruce Timm's cartoonish designs which after nearly a decade are tiresome and boring.

Gotham Knights was a step forward.

They should've chosen a better story. I mean... framing Superman for directing a meteor to Earth... and anyone is going to believe that?! :hehe:

Loeb, Loeb...

Well i read the comic and tbh it was way too short (6 issues). It was basicly an excuse to hve people fight Superman and Batman together but it wasn't really about fooling the public to believe Superman was the cause, it was more like getting hired mercneries and whatnot to have a reason/excuse to fight him. =p

Really?

I love the drawing by Bruce Timms..it makes me feel north American, and it felt like Gotham knights was a huge step back into more cheap animation.

As well, the wonderwoman DTV was really good, the others not so much, but the Green Lantern coming up looks very promising, but as for the rest they really seemed half-assed.

Yeah... Wonder Woman had the designs done by it's director Lauren Montgomery.

Jose Lopez is the designer on Green Lantern: First Flight.

They may be using Bruce Timm's sensibilities... but we haven't seen full blown BT designs since Superman: Doomsday.

Interesting because you can see a lot of influence from bruce timm in wonderwoman, same with GL. As for this new superman/batman adventure, i think it really drifts away from BT

WTF.jpg

Huge ass neanderthal caveman chin, simplistic design to cut corners around the animation, yeah that's what kids like. :whatever:

Now that's more like it, more muscular definition, more realistic shading, just a beautiful masterpiece. :applaud

I'll give you the shading part, but the design is just aweful. Besides with that much detail the animation is going to suffer the anime plague, where everone is standing in dramatic poses and the only thing that moves is the wind ripping through cloth in a three frame loop.

Impossible, movies like Akira and Ghost In The Shell prove how animation can be done without looking like a Hanna Barbera cartoon.

I stay away from Pokemon and it's clones.

The animation in those, while not as bad as in serialized anime, is still pretty bad. Low framerate, and slow panning scenes are plenty.
Also, isn't it enough that we are bring flooded with japaneese designs that are actutally japaneese? Do we really have to make Superman and Batman look like something out of the pretentiousness that is Ghost in the shell?

The eyebrows on both Superman and Batman are just weird.

Bat's eyebrows shows through his mask, and Superman's eyebrows have that weird slant, which looks like a batarang.

Weird.

Very much nit-picking, but eh, lol.

Everything else looks good.

Can't wait to hear Daly as Superman again.

And I guess Allison Mack is voicing someone in the film as well. Probably Power Girl.

This looks so awesome and I'm such a fan of Mcguiness's work I'm so happy they made it look like his artwork somewhat. Close enough for me, looks great!

Thank God, they kept Superman's blue eyes! I was always wondering why they gave him black dots for eyes instead of his signature sky blue peepers in TAS, while even Supergirl's were blue. Must have been easier to draw...

The lack of blue was most jarringly obvious to me when Bruce Wayne came to visit him in "World's Finest" in the second season and his eyes were perfectly fine, yes sir-ree. A nice watery blue color. :woot:

*makes some caps* Here:

Is it just me or does it look like the Public Enemies Superman has TAS Bruce's eyebrows? And I really like Superman's new "windswept" hair instead of the polished style in TAS. It's fresh and different, though overall I didn't like the original comic's drawing style very much. It's a matter of taste. Still, the new screencaps look very promising and exciting!

His hairstyle in Public Enemies is that of a youth but the body is large and adult without being insanely huge, from what I can see. I like the combo.

(Completely random regarding TAS World's Finest: It tickled me Joker called Lois "Superman's main squeeze". :woot:)

^^

Actually... after years of seeing only the black dots on Superman, it's always weird to see him with pupils.

Especially on Superman: TAS or Justice League where he would suddenly grow eyeballs out of nowhere...

What episodes does he get pupils?

I never really noticed, now it makes me want to go watch those episodes.

Haha, that cap is great! He finally had real eyes for a moment there. :woot:

It was a veeery pleasant surprise to see the Public Enemies Superman sporting eyes in a color that's actually canon! And it shouldn't be a surprise but an obvious choice for the character. Weird, huh?

I'm more into comics Superman than animated Superman so the striking blue eyes are important to me. Also both Ma and Pa in the comics share the eye color with Clark. It's good to hear they're paying attention to detail in this new film and sticking with blue. In the first Public Enemies cap I quoted the eyes look pronounced, even. Your focus is immediately drawn to them, they're that striking. Eyes that resemble black buttons or beads wouldn't have had the same effect I think.

Sadly, the black eyes from TAS return in Superman: Doomsday, even Lois' are black unlike the lovely bright ones she has in TAS, but otherwise I loved the film:

Superman's blue eyes are one of his best assets IMO, and when Gary Frank is drawing him they seem to have a life of their own:

We don't have any caps of Public Enemies' Bruce Waybe so far, right? I wonder how his eyes look like. *is beyond curious now* It would crack me up if they gave him black ones, like some inside joke.
