Superman in the Marvel Universe (a purely theoretical discussion)

Anyone here see that comic where they merged Superman and Captain America?

It was part of the Amalgam line, where they merged Marvel and DC characters. It was a cool little idea. I personally liked Spider-Boy

That's true. They'd never be able to make another Superman cartoon or lunchboxes or anything, and it'd leave a big, gaping void in their fictional universe. Ironically, a void that DC's Captain Marvel would probably be best-suited to fill, come to think of it.

You mean Shazam. There ain't no Captain Marvel at DC right now.

Yes that is the one - did they also merge Batman and Wolverine!

I think his name was something really stupid, too, like "Dark Claw."

That was it. Wasn't it done in the style of the Batman animated cartoon?

It was what it was. A nice little diversion. If you're really interested, search Amalgam in Amazon. There's a couple of trades.

One issue from the second wave of Amalgam comics was. It was even called The Dark Claw Adventures, mimicking the Batman Adventures title of the cartoon-related comic at the time. The first Amalgam issue featuring Dark Claw was done as a regular comic.

I have seen some of the pictures - Dark Claw seems kinda cool to me.

He fought the Hyena, who was an amalgamation of Sabertooth and the Joker.

Hey, I LOVED Dark Claw!

This may be one thing that no one can ever really imagine..unless it actually happened. There can be only 1 or 2 things that can happen. 1-The biggest law battle in comics history. 2-Superman in the Marvel Universe. Infinite possibilities? What would have Stan Lee,Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby thought?

DC needs to get the number for Marvel's lawyers...

Those guys slapped down Joe Simon's lawsuit for rights to Captain America so fast, his frigging head was spinning, lol. :woot:

I'd rather them just leave each other well alone.

Edit: As far as Superman goes.

Wow

This really would be the end for Superman if that happens :(
not true. The only thing the S&Ss can legally sell is the panels and general story from Action 1. Everything published subsequently belongs 100% to DC and Time Warner.

I'm a big Superman fan and I wouldn't mind. It really wouldn't affect DC's publications. I would actually like to see what marvel could do with it.

Superman appears in an awful lot of DC's comics. How would his being sold to Marvel not affect DC's publications?

It would be interesting for one issue, but I reallydon't want superman on marvel, just becasue I don't like superman!
And those of us who like our heroes to be good guys don't want him in Marvel either, so relax, zombie.

Superman will never be sold to another publisher. DC has a clear trademark on the name and on the character. It's the same reason that Bob Kane's family can't just sell off Batman, even though I believe they have an ownership stake in the character.

I can't imagine how a Superman fan could want to see what Marvel would do with him. He'd go the same way that the few other true heroes in the Marvel Universe did: Captain Marvel died bedridden, and Captain America got a bullet.
