Yeah, I've got no real beefs with the suit. I'd probably change the belt before I'd change the cape. I mainly just want Tyler to get back to the build that fills it out, because you could tell in Elseworlds that it was ill-fitting due to being made for him when he was bigger. He got slimmer, ironically, for that bodybuilding movie he did (guess they were going for a leaner, less body-fat look), and then never gained that weight back, it seems.

Never understood the hubbub around the clasps. I personally wouldn’t have included them as a design element (real life consideration for the actor aside), but they look fine IMO.

I have made an image with the changes that I would make, personally I like the suit and the clasps do not hate them either but I have removed them because I think it would also look good and would have more acceptance, I would put the brighter S, a more stylized belt and M-shaped boots like the clasics, and last but not least a bright yellow S in the cape I would love to.

I actually like the belt lol

Its not like his skin and bone though he's still in amazing shape. I honestly don't mind if he rocks up looking the same.

Yeah I'm the same

I have never liked the \S/ on the belt, I think the one \S/ should be on his chest and cape (which is optional). Also not a fan of the M clasped boots tbh, But I like how the rest looks.

If Routh's Superman does die in Crisis, which inspires Tyler to change his suit then I think that would be a cool reason for them to make changes. Would make for a better reason that when Kara did, cause her cape got damaged which it hadn't really before lol

Actually I added the S in the belt for not putting exactly the one of Mon-el that seems to me best belt design, what I am sure is that I do not want to go back to the underwear. A very personal wish that I do not think will happen in real action is the shield of the S with the black background I always liked. 8992dbfa68a9e0b3cb30bfebe160dd8b.jpg superman_smashes_the_klan-publicity-h_2019.jpg vlcsnap-2016-10-12-05h09m41s426op.jpg

I love the Fleischer design I’d be tempted but to go with that in the next Superman movie.

I just purchased Superman smashes the Klan today aswell

Love this overall. Only think I’m iffy on is having the S on the belt but it looks much better than the one he has now, IMO.

Question for you guys though. With that GL series apparently coming to HBO Max and the prospect of a higher budget... would you rather see Superman go that route instead of appearing in a new CW series? I think Tyler does well in the role but I’d be okay with sacrificing him and this show if it meant getting a movie-quality Superman series on HBO.

I’d rather see Tyler’s series on HBO Max. There’s no reason to recast when you already have someone great in the role who people have been demanding get his own show for a couple years now, and there’s no reason being on a different network means it couldn’t be the same Superman. Given that GL’s still Berlanti, the only major difference between the two will likely be budget, so it’s not like his HBO Max Supes would not feel compatible with the Arrowverse or anything. But oh well, at least we’re getting something. I ain’t complaining.

Yeah, I was thinking that you could do an HBO series with Tyler (especially since Berlanti is involved) but I'm not sure that they'd want to have any connections to the CWverse beyond Berlanti himself. I'm glad we're getting something, I just hope it doesn't turn out like Lois & Clark, which was a show I loathed because it turned Superman into ****ing Moonlighting.

Well I loved the first couple seasons of L&C growing up so I won't mind if it takes some cues from that, lol. But yeah, at least we can take comfort in knowing we don't have to suffer through their attempts at writing the romance. That's another big plus of this Rebirth-esque premise, imo.

The challenge is going to be budget. The Berlanti shows are surprisingly adept at using cgi and special effects (you know, relatively speaking) but this show is gonna need to up the ante if theyre going to render his more famous villains like Brainiac or Parasite or Darkseid.

SG already did Parasite tho.

A couple times.

If I had to choose between the series that we will have in CW or one of HBOmax, I would end up choosing the one of CW for several reasons, the universe already established, because I like Tyler as a superman and he has earned it and because it is a new story never told in screen. On the budget, just keep up the level of Parasito, King shark or Grood CGI and add good superman stories and I will be very very happy!

I think we’ll definitely get our fair share of cues from L&C. I’m hoping they do show us some stuff from before Lois knew in flashbacks now & then.

I think the effects are mostly good on the CW shows. What would help with budgets is if they didn’t have such large casts.

I would imagine the budget for this will be significant.

And large episode counts. Imagine if they didnt have to do 22-23 episodes every season.

I've been advocating for shorter episode counts for ages now. Even if they only condensed it to 16 episodes, that would still give the episodes almost $1 million more each in its budget, which is huge for these shows and would go a looong way.

There are things about the CW DC shows that I don't like, but their effects/CGI are something that I've been very impressed with. Especially on the crossovers.

I think we'll be fine as long as the show doesn't fall to the level of cheese present in the video below. :hmm

16 would be perfecf

That show was 1988, it’s a product it’s time. You can’t really compare the tones of a TV show from them to now. Plus it vastly improved after S1.

Controversial but three episodes each an hour long Sherlock style would be really fun

Most Sherlock episodes were in the 90-minute range (with no commercials). So basically, three TV “movies” per season.

Perhaps things are changing; but in the beforetime, something in the range of 88-100 network episodes was the magic number for the resale/syndication of a series. IOW, there’s a business case for producing 22 episodes/season instead of 13-16. Of course, there are exceptions. Black Lightning does 13-16 episodes. And with this example, you could maybe make the quality-over-quantity argument. However, Legends of Tomorrow also does a shorter season (16-18 eps.) and the results are more… debatable. :cwink:

I wouldn’t even agree with that i think Black Lightning awful. I would take the fun with Legends over been bored by BL any day.
