Good morning all, I'm very excited about the new Supes film being released at the end of June and I look forward to chatting with everyone as we look forward to the end of June.
I'd like to list a couple of observations from which I've gathered from watching various trailers, clips, snippets, etc. of the new film, Superman Returns:
1. Brandon Routh as Superman - I have to admit, he's a young lad. He really looks young during the trailers. In my humble opinion, I don't think Mr. Chris Reeve can be replaced as the Man in Blue. Like I said, that's my opinion. I'll give the kid a shot, for sure. He is good looking though and that should appeal to avid Supes fans.
2. Too much CGI - I know we're in the age of the computer. I mean, look what we're doing right now...surfing the Internets, posting on message boards, etc. but I think there's a time when it's all a bit too much. The original Superman films lacked CGI but the films still looked great. Did we ever see Supes get tangled up in a wire, did we ever see the fan blowing his cape in the breeze? No we didn't. So why the need for the latest and greatest of technologicals? I'll let this slide because I know we're in the computer age.
3. The Suit - It'll take some getting used to. I was always a fan of the bright colors of red, blue, yellow, and the red cape. This rusty red and off-blue is really different, but that's what the directors and filmmakers wanted, I imagine. I like the texture of the suit though. The shield appears to be too, too small. I'll give Singer a little leeway since I enjoyed X-Men and Sin City so much.
4. Overall Thoughts - It's a great time for us Supes fans. We've waited a long, long time. We've dispelled the rumors of Nick Cage and Jason Gedrick as Superman, we've rummaged through the horrible scripts...the day is almost here! I look forward to it.
Does anyone have any thoughts they'd like to add? Thanks.
