World Superman: The Ultimate Collector's Edition

Without doubt, Donner should be proud of both versions. They're terrific.

thanks for answering guys, does anyone have the region 2 collector's box yet? anyone able to tell me whether the picture quality of the expanded cut is any better than it is on the region 1 version. heard from a couple of people now that the picture is darker than in the theatrical cut, that the original dvd of the expanded version has better picture quality than the one in the tin, is that true for region 2?

good news. amazon is now shipping out corrected sets. i had to return the one i received in November because it was missing the superman II disc. i just received my replacement in the mail yester day, and not only were all the discs included, the STM Disc 1 and the Superman III disc were the corrected versions! Also, the tin seems to be a bit sturdier (the first one i got was very dented) This one is pristine and blemish free. Though it's huge and barely fits on my shelf and sticks out like a sore thumb!

ya want a huge tin box, you should see my james bond collection, now THAT'S huge, i'm looking forward to having the smaller tin of the superman movies. of course what i'd really like is for all the dvd's to be in REGULAR DVD BOXES, stead of plastic fold-out ****, but life sucks

ya know what i don't get? the superman dvd has the making of superman, the superman ii dvd has the making of superman ii, the superman iii dvd has the making of superman iii, the superman iv dvd has..............., were they aware even then of just how ****ty it was they didn't bother having a making of made?

Absolutely ridiculous. I've called the disc replacement line at least 10 times since Nov. 28, and for the second time today, I've been on hold for longer than 20 minutes, no exaggeration.

I suggest everyone waits. This is such a pain in the ass.

That's good to hear. If I hadn't of signed up for the replacement discs then I would have just waited a couple of weeks & sent my set back to Amazon.com for a replacement set. Mine had 2 dents at the corner's along the rim of the front & back lids but since everything seemed to play fine aside from the 2 discs that I have to send back, I still decided to keep the set. The audio sounds very crappy though when I listen to the commentary tracks on the discs. Peoples voices fade in & out to a point were it is hard to understand them most times, so there could still be something wrong with the discs or there is a short in my dvd audio cables.

Maybe they don't own the rights as of yet to that making of. I know that previously the making of Supes 1, 2 and 3 where released by USA video, or something like that. The point is it was not released by Warner's as they did not own the rights to it. The Salkind's did.

Well damn.

I purchased mine at a local Target (the very last one) on Saturday before last, but waited till Monday to call for the replacement discs, and had no problems getting thru. I might have waited 5 mins, but thats about it. I called late, around 6pm or 7pm so maybe try that and hopefully with a little luck you wont have such a long wait time. Not sure if it's going to help you or not, but it wouldnt hurt.

Good luck.

Thanks. Yeah, I've tried calling late at night but that didn't work for me. I figured if I called around the time they close, which is 9 here, I could stay on the line and eventually get through, but no luck.

My only option is to go out of my way to wake up at 9am to call. Terrible, I actually have strategic plans to get through to a hotline.

Actually, the Salkinds sold the rights to the Superman franchise in 1985 to Cannon Films, which in turned grabbed Sidney J. Furie to helm "The Quest For Peace". The main reason for "Superman IV" failing was the extremely slim budget; it was supposed to be around $40 million, and Cannon slashed it at the last moment to $17 million, using the remainder for other films they had in development. They didn't take the film seriously at all, and as a result, it bombed.

LOL

Yeah, I was expecting to have a strategic plan as well if it wasnt for me actually getting thru on the first phone call, but I sympathize with you. Let me know how it goes.

I called back on Dec.1 for the replacement disc and still haven't gotten the self addressed envelope from them, if I don't get a response by the end of the month I'll just buy S3 at a regular store.

It looks like I'm not going to get my set until later this month. WBShop is on backorder (even though I placed the order on the release date after confirming they had some currently in stock). I hope the delay is due to them trying to get the correct versions to send out.

Ya i just got a backorder notice from warner but i think its a blessing as I assume they'll be corrected sets & I won't have to send anything back. In fact the ultimate set is'nt even listed on theyre website anymore.

I was going to get the Ultimate collector's set but, I figured might aswell just get the best of them, so I just picked up Superman, Superman II:The Richard Donner Cut, and SR. So this way I'm not stuck with 2 movies I'm not ever going to watch, well, 4 I might have checked out once in awhile, but not 3 at all.:cmad:

Is there anyway to identify the corrected versions in the store?

Yeah but, how much did all three of those cost? At least $50? The UC only cost me 60, so I figured it was well worth it.
