Pauley Perrette is getting out of the lab. The NCIS star will voice Lois Lane in the upcoming animated DVD-movie Superman vs. The Elite. Based on the story "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?," which ran in Action Comics No. 775 in 2001, the film pits the Man of Steel against a ruthless team of "heroes" with staggering powers. Unlike Superman, The Elite are not afraid to use violence, including killing, to stop anyone they consider bad guys. As the public begins to rally around these superhuman vigilantes, Superman (George Newbern, who also voiced the character in the Justice League series) must figure out a way to stop them without compromising his principles of (you guessed it) "truth, justice and the American way."

Helping him sort it out is Lois, balancing her roles as a Daily Planet reporter and Superman/Clark Kent's wife. "I think there are similarities between Abby and Lois," Perrette says, comparing this character with her quirky NCIS forensic scientist. "They're both very smart and confident and really good at their jobs. They're both really focused. Abby just doesn't have a Superman."

Superman vs. The Elite, the latest in a series of DC Comics-themed movies from Warner Bros. Animation, will be available on DVD, Blu-ray, digital download and on demand. An exact release date has yet to be determined, but expect to see it before July's Comic-Con International.

I'm happy they're changing their style... but I can't be the only one who laughed at that pic of Superman.

It's cool they are finally letting George Newbern voice Superman In a straight to DVD/Blu-Ray full film.

They should have gotten Jay Leno for the voice.

That chin cant be for real. Please tell me it is not for real. And if they insist on giving us Batman/Superman movies every other release, can they not atleast find stories that involve other heroes?

I wonder if James Tucker is involved in this... I'm getting a Tucker vibe of this drawing.

That Superman looks ****ing terrible. :o

Looking forward to this but wow that chin..

Sounds awesome! Can't believe I didn't hear of this!

Purette is kinda that chick. She might make this.

I see your Stan Smith and raise you the Crimson Chin. :o

....and judging from this pic, they are not adopting that Godawful New 52 redesign! Thank the Lord! Looking forward to this too.

As part of my review of "Justice League: Doom", I discuss the bonus material included, and gave my thoughts on the sneak peek of "Superman vs. The Elite".

  • I've got to say that "Superman vs. The Elite" is one animated film I'm really looking forward to. I loved the original comic book story it's based on, and this sneak peek featurette has only heightened my anticipation. The character designs are quite different than what we've seen in other recent DCU animated movies. The style is a little rougher, less refined, which looks like it'll match nicely with the kind of story being told.

I've not yet heard who they've cast to voice Manchester Black, but whoever he is, he's perfect for the role. He kind of has that Liverpudlian accent with an air of arrogance and cheekiness blended in. George Newbern returns to voice Superman.
We also know, thanks to TVGuide.com that Pauley Perrette (NCIS) will be voicing the role of Lois Lane for this animated movie. She posted on Twitter, "How fun: I'm the new voice of Lois Lane for Superman animation & my fiance totally looks like Clark Kent & Superman :)".

Well... Young Justice is coming back on March 3rd for a while. That'll have some Bats/Supes action and should help bridge the gap.

The Elite, a team of super-powered antiheroes, is renowned for killing their enemies. Despite the acclaim and approval the Elite enjoy, Superman knows they are in the wrong, creating more harm than good by their methods. Tensions between them finally culminate in a mass showdown on Jupiter’s moons, when Superman is forced to prove that violence is never a positive.

Very cool. I do hate the UltraViolet digital copy option though....can't open with Itunes.....unless I'm doing something wrong.
Nice to see Superman looking like he should too!
