Superman Returns Superman's anatomy . . .

But isn't the percentage alot higher though? His body just feeds entirely on the yellow sun. Dude doesn't even have to eat, the yellow sun is all he needs.

I've been thinking about picking this up.....but I'm SLIGHTLY worried.....only slightly....that it'll confuse the hell out of me. Math was never really my best subject....

No he couldn't. I did the math and physics. Even if he absorbed 100% of the solar radiation impinging on him and converted 100% of it into energy there's not enough energy for him to perform his super feats.

Sure you did, how about your read science of superman and compare your notes with his. Did you forget superman's abilties partially stem from krypton's and earth's geologic and atmospheric differences?

I remember a part from "Superman: Birthright", where Lex believes Superman to have a special organ in his body, that allows him to control gravity and gives him the ability to fly. Now, was thinkink, since in the International Trailer we see Lex stabbing him in the back with kryptonite and telling him "Now, fly"...

Could it be that Lex learned some pieces of kryptonian biology? After all, he demanded to "know everything". Thus, stabbing him in the place were he harms his ability to fly?

Hahaha, I totally forgot I made this thread when I signed in. I always assumed Superman was more advanced than humans, meaning he's using ESP when actually "seeing" through things, or having fire come from his eyes, and such. I don't have a problem with any of the various explanations, really. Just wondering what direction Singer took, since he likes details.

I don't think so, although that would be intersting. I think its more along the lines of flying while being poisoned by green K. It ain't happening!

Can anyone list from greatest effort to least, of Supermans powers? I remember reading that heat vision took the most energy.

Na, he's stabbing him to kill him, nothing to do with his flying.

Ok i have really got to read that book. I got to see a little bit of it online. The guy was explaining a little on why krypton couldnt exist. IM hooked

Thats true. I think your right dude!

Just to mention, I think Lex says "Now Fly" b/c after stabbing him....he tosses him down a hill or something.

I saw an article in some science magazine that suggested some form of cold fusion in his cells or perhaps a special organ that is... I don't know, somewhow requires external sunlight to happen. So he's not getting all that energy straight from the sun (like a plant does)... he's generating it himself, with the sun's help. But I guess he'd need fuel for that, which would be... water?... which doesn't really fit in to the traditional explanation well.

Geez c'mon people, Lex says it because he's a sadistic bastard, not because of a alleged organ which Lex only hypothesizes superman to have in Birthright.

I'm sure you're right, I just pointed out a far fetched speculation.

its also Lex's way of mocking him, stabbing him at the back (looked like the kidneys-- ouch!) hurting him so bad then daring him to do any special feats knowing that he's been hurt so bad.

thats going to be really disturbing to see.

When they do an x-ray, I hope he has tiny \S/'s imprinted on his bones.;)

lol...doubtful.

I wonder, they pretty much cover everything in the book? Heat Vision? Hearing? Arctic Breath? All of it?

My theory is that Superman is as human as we would eveolve to be.
eg. if we used > 1% of our mind power for our whole body, and eveolved to a xxxx milleniums, shift planets and eventually land up at an equivalent of krypton, at the stage when it is under a red dwarf. Probably a compensation of lack of food and improved human evolution, may enable us humans to be more sensitive to solar energy (like we now are for vitamin D), for most if not all minerals.
If superman was such a being, then when thrust back into the rich sun environment of earth, naturally every cell in his body will be overpowered. the cumulative effect will be SUPERMAN.
